My next card will be whatever the best of the upcoming high end cards is. The ultra low end doesn't interest me.

I will buy one of these things ASAP.

I want it with 8GB, two fans (not three) and an 8-pin power connector; preferably a Sapphire Nitro.

But I'm also considering the 4GB version and even the RX 470.

I bought one, 8 GiB version. It should be quite the upgrade from my Radeon HD 7750. The only game I'm playing right now is Witcher 3. I refuse to play games that have DRM. Anyone have good recommendations for non-DRM games?

Most games from gog are drm free.

If $250 or under, I 'll buy the 8GB AIB version for my HTPC, replacing the 7950 there. I am looking forward to 50-100W less heat in the box. Also, HDMI 2.0, freesync, H.265 support are all great features.

I might run the card in my other PC for few days just to see how the overall experience compares to running the overclocked 290 in there. Hopefully Vega will be a worthwhile upgrade from 290, and the LG UWD 144Hz 34" freesync panels have arrived by then.

Still using a 1gb 7770 so I SERIOUSLY need the upgrade as a 1080p gamer. I should have bought a 290 for $250 a couple years ago but missed out. I nearly bought a gpu last november but everyone here was telling me to wait for the new cards. I was really hoping the 480x would blow the doors off everyone's expectations and sadly that was not the case.

But it's still a good value to me at $200. 4gb is four times the vram I'm running right now and should be plenty. I will however wait until XFX makes a non blower option, I want a quiet solution. Doesn't matter to me if it blows inside my mammoth case.

I will almost assuredly get a 480 8gb AIB card when they are available. Though if I do I will likely also (almost) completely upgrade my system to the point where the only thing I'll keep is my DVD drive and my speakers.

Gonna get a AIB 480 to replace my GTX 760... unless 1060 will destroy it performance wise at a similar price, which I doubt it will

I'll get one, and it will probably be a stock one with a blower, cause my case setup can't stand the heat. It's just going to hold me over until Vega 10 comes out.

With the improved 485 coming, I'm waiting again.

Also with the 1060 and 470 coming, I'm waiting.

I don't think it's wise to buy the 480 right now.

I think 485-490 is Vega and that won't be out until October from what I've read. I would wait but I've had this card too long. When Vega releases if it does well I'll definitely sell the 480 and upgrade again.

I thought about it but the reference model looks bad. Will see what happens with partner cards, the 1060 and if 1070s drop from like $800AU (~$550US for a comparable no tax number...........).

Waiting for comparisons of AIB models. I'd like to see if they saved the ability to overclock for AIB cards. If there isn't a version of the 480 that eclipses the 390x in most scenarios I'll probably get a 470 or base 4GB 480 to hold me over until something comes along which will be a step above the 390x but in line with 480 price/perf.
The 1070 is really the performance I'm looking for but I'll wait until it's available at $350 or below.

As i'm on linux and do not support proprietary only approach by Nvidia, this leaves me with the only choice of amd. Was initially thnking of getting the 480, but those 168w it draws is a very big put off when i thought it wouldn't do more than 130w. So i'm going to see how the 470 stacks up.

I'll probably sell my 780 to my dad. If not, I may just hold off until later this year or early next.

Do people really sell used gpu's and cpu's to their parents/siblings? That sounds so wrong to me, as i just give up the stuff i'm not using anymore.

1) Get off your self righteous high horse.

2) Don't comment on people's habits that you know nothing about. Given that I have a wife and three little kids to provide for my father wouldn't take anything for free, let alone something I could sell to someone else. Secondly, with everything I do for my parents he's coming out way ahead picking up a barely used, Evga SC 780 for $50-$75.

3) Stick to talking about tech, this is a tech enthusiasts site right?

Waiting on an AIB variant.

I am borderline in terms of this being an upgrade, I have a reference 290 back from 2013, so a stock rx 480 should still be a slight boost compared to that, but I'd rather get a bit more with a higher clocking variant. I chose not to wait when I got the reference 290, not doing that again.

I consider this a tide me over card until vega arrives. I'm still using one of the original korean 1440p monitors, no freesync. My next upgrades will be:

480 AIB

new core system:
zen 8 core / 16 thread cpu + new MB + 16GB ram + 1TB SSD

Vega gpu
40-43" 4k monitor/tv - 120Hz with dp 1.4 and freesync, ideally with HDR

The monitor is the biggest unicorn item though, NO one seems to be focusing on 40-43" monitors aside from the freaking korean off brand panel makers. It's kind of ridiculous. I don't even want to bother trying to wait for an oled to get sub 1k for the display, a VA will have to do, with some local dimming. Not ideal, but lg has not even bothered to stick a freaking dp 1.2 on their 5000 dollar oled tvs. Again, everyone assumes the biggest monitor any pc gamer wants is 27 inches, or 34 if its a widescreen.

People have already started to under volt them, power drops off a lot, and performance in some cases is better as they don't hit their power limit.

Also, the linux benchmarks I saw (cant recall the site) show the 480 well ahead of the 970.

If you're buying a Radeon RX 480 or are planning to buy one (or more), please post here.

I purchased one for my work machine. It is currently using Intel integrated graphics and I figure this should be a nice boost for when I want to fire up a game on it.

I drove 2.5 hours to Microcenter to buy two. One black screens and the other throttles WELL below base clock. I am not certain what to think about this right now. Hoping for a bios update at this point.
