Well there is no point if you can't get up to 144 frames, in your case a free sync monitor would make it a lot smoother so you don't notice jumps when it drops. But I'm assuming it doesn't drop much, yet free sync would help smoothen out things and you wouldn't need vsync in game settings.Question, for those of you wanting to pair the RX480 with a freesync monitor (144Hz?) Is this card even powerful enough? In OverWatch (not the most graphically intense game I don't think) at 3440x1440 and at "Ultra" setting (one notch below "Epic" which is max) I only get like 60-65FPS paired with a stock i7-6700K.
Most monitors I see being mentioned are standard 1440p (2560x1440) which would probably get like 70-80FPS if that?

Amazon has it for 470 from one seller, not Amazon themselves so its not quite that good of a deal but still a very solid one. Guess this deal makes forces the question on 480 vs 1060 for me.For those who already bought one or two, Newegg has a great deal on Acer XF270HU 27" 1440p 144hz IPS montior for $399 (think normally is $549-599): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0JC-000P-00083&ignorebbr=1. Shellshocker deal so only for today.
I don't know if either 1060 or 480 would be good enough at 1440p. Most reviews and benches I saw at games that I play got around 45fps on 1440p. You do need more horsepower going from 1080 to 1440p and with 144hz as well. With never games pushing limits in details and such, pretty much why I got the Dell gsync monitor at $450.Amazon has it for 470 from one seller, not Amazon themselves so its not quite that good of a deal but still a very solid one. At least with the pre order you are guaranteed one from Amazon. You should be good to go.
Yeah this seems easiest. I pre ordered one to from amazon shipped to my US address and will run down and get it when it finally ships.

Had I not bought the Dell, today I would have ordered the Acer but still went with a 1070.
Yeah also apparently this monitor has issues with it's freesync implementation. So back to playing the now in stock game on 480s and 1060s.I don't know if either 1060 or 480 would be good enough at 1440p. Still no non-ref 480 to be found in stock. Saw the MSI 1060 dual fan OC for $249 in stock in New Egg, really tempting to pull the trigger...
I've been pretty impressed with my rx480.. I don't remember the last time I bought a GPU for less than $400 and yet it doesn't feel like a compromise.Yup same thing is happening again. Miners pick up all the cards, they've inflated the prices of the rx 480 and while sales are made how many go to gamers?
The 1060 we know a majority of gamers are buying. We have people on this forum alone with 4+ rx 480s.
Same thing happened with the 290/x released. Prices were inflated due to Miners so people picked up gtx 780s.
3 generations straight of bungled card launches from amd. Only difference is this generation this forum wants to ignore the many ways the 480 under delivered.
The only thing that makes the 480 attractive is we know full well Nvidia products have a limited lifespan. If I get amd this generation it's only because of the mining capabilities and future performance. Definitely not impressive.
