Who bought/is buying a Radeon RX 480?

Just got my RX480. It's quite a bit better than the HD 7750 it replaced.

Big upgrade. Enjoy the card's performance.

Another 2 weeks I think. The sapphire nitro is scheduled to release July 22. You might actually have to wait another month or more though. I doubt there will be stock enough for everyone.

Looking at one to replace a family member's aging 7950 (still running strong). Will grab one in August when supply is a bit better and there are some better options close to $200.

It does look good but if it ends up pushing $300 or a bit more I'm going to go for the $399 1070. Hopefully other aib models models come before July 22.

I said I was going to wait for the Nitro, but, I lied. Amazon had MSRP preorders for 4gig RX 480s, shipping July 10th. Even if it doesn't unlock, I doubt I'll find a better bang for my buck.

Let us know if it does. I really want to upgrade my card since my brother needs my GPU but I've been waiting forever now with AIB models suppose to be out.

Will do, tho it's going to be a question of how soon AMD gets actual 512meg chips to use instead of 1gig.

I just pulled the trigger on one of those as well. And I too won't care if they don't unlock. I was in the market for a $199 4GB model from the very beginning anyways.

I'm very impressed with the 480 design... it's enough to likely bring me back to their camp! I'm all about value, efficiency, stability... AMD certainly pulled an impressive rabbit out of their hat with this one.

I'm sure there won't be enough for a while unfortunately, though I'll do what I can to buy some day one.

I know in Canada the 480 sold out at every major vendor. Now all we have are small vendors and resellers selling them at stupid high premiums.

That's what the oc UK store said about the nitro releasing so I figure if would be the same date here in the US.

Bit on XFX 4GB model from Best Buy. Same opinion if it doesn't unlock. Hopefully does fine for 1440p and FreeSync (HP Envy 32" FS Monitor with 34-70 FS range). I do have a EVGA PCIe power booster so may see how OC goes.

I had mine for 5 days now, love it. It's a stop gap for Vega but I am in no hurry to upgrade so will wait until Vega AIBs come out.

With a 480, a 2560 monitor with a freesync range of a low 34-70 is actually a good idea. It goes low enough to account for a medium speed card like the 480 and goes only to 70Hz (not 144) which is fine considering, again, it's a medium speed card.

Question, is that an IPS panel? It has 178 degree viewing angle so I assume it's that or VA. That's actually really cheap ($400) for what you get.

I love FreeSync, no longer need to pay for performance you don't see. HP says WVA+, I'm not really sensitive to color so looks good to me other than black looks a little washed out. Like you said for the price it's pretty good. Normal FS range for the monitor is 48-70, but created inf file to lower to 30 (if anyone has this monitor can download here).

I finally got the 480 I ordered on launch day today. Fits nice and snug in my Node 304 Mini ITX case as you can see. I actually really like the look and feel of the card. It is solid but not a blunt weapon like 290 reference card is. My next move is to see if I can download 4 gigs more of VRAM on here.

Looks pretty compact in there but it fits well. Here's the ROM for the 8gb bios at the bottom of the article.

Just make sure your card is actually an 8gb I think there are a few videos out there to check if it is. Seeing as you ordered as soon as it was available I'm pretty sure it's actually an 8gb.

It is a tight fit. But I guess that makes being a blower card a good thing. All the air is going out the back, anyway.
