If you're buying a Radeon RX 480 or are planning to buy one (or more), please post here.

I purchased one for my work machine. It is currently using Intel integrated graphics and I figure this should be a nice boost for when I want to fire up a game on it.

Definitely buying one for gaming and mining but I'm waiting for the 3rd party coolers to come along.

If the 3rd party ones cool well, I think I will pick one up to replace a 780.

I was really hoping for a little better power characteristics, but for $200 the performance per $$$ is excellent.

Nope. Obviously I'm not the target market for a 480. I want max performance and my history of card purchases backs that. With that said I would buy one if I was a limited budget buyer.

I bought one to mine and putz with, but I'm not tearing apart my loop to install it in my main desktop.

I'll very likely pick one of the beefier ones up to mess with when they show up.

And you needed to post here just to impress us with your "history of purchases"?

I bought rx 480 8 gb and it will arrive next week. Hopefully they will fix this power draw problem until then.

I am more interested in the 470 I think, especially if it meets the efficiency improvements AMD promised, and everyone assumed would apply to the 480. 480 is probably more than I need anyway. I dont play the lastest demanding games or insist on high FPS or image quality/resolution. I also would wait to see what the performance/price/availabilty is for 1060/1050 since they appear to be coming out soon.

I dont consider myself a tree hugger or anything, but I do value efficiency, and will pay more (within reason) for a more efficient solution, not only for a better experience, but just as a matter of principle. The unexpectedly high power use of the 480 just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even though one cant argue with the performance for the price.

Coming from a 7970ghz I will be getting an AIB 8gb model. I would normally buy high end but I only buy high end if the price and longevity makes sense.

Since I've upgraded my PC I want a new card and there's nothing else for me to get until Vega comes out since those are supposed to be the high end models.

I'll probably pick up a custom one, upgrading from my 30" -> 34" freesync ultrawide so will need more power than my current 290 4gb.

Unless we hear of the 490 / Vega coming soon that is, then I might wait

Hopefully Overwatch adds the 21:9 support, in that case I'll definitely need an upgrade sooner

I'm waiting on custom AIB versions. UPS smashed my old 390 Nitro months ago and I just got the claim money this week. I could get a 1070, but I'm still on 1080p and won't be able to afford a new monitor soon, so I don't think it would be worth the extra cost.

I'll probably get the Nitro version, but I might get the Devil or the Strix versions if they're really great.

Timing is a bit off for me, I'll be waiting until fall to upgrade.
Should be a few more options at good prices too.

It depends upon the AIB options. If the power consumption issues are worked out, the cooler is quiet, and has some room for OC, I'll probably sell my 780 to my dad. If not, I may just hold off until later this year or early next.

The 1070 is tempting but more $$$ than I would like to spend knowing what's coming down the pipe.

I want to see how the chips progress, I was dead set on getting one, but if the issues get sorted the price will hopefully drop a bit as well I will likely get one.

It's a nice package. I'd consider it if I didn't already have a 970.

I only bought a new GPU last year - given my more recent purchase history/patterns, I'll probably wait for and/or end up with an 1170 or 580X.

Waiting on AIB RX480 cards: Sapphire Nitro, MSI Gaming, Asus Strix. Also interested to see the comparison to the $149-179 RX470. If the 480 mines 24-25MH, will likely order a dozen or so. Will most likely purchase mid-August.

I should have waited for AIB variants...

Heard they are coming in 2 weeks. But prices over here are terrible and I figured they will be jacked up a lot more.

2x 480s @ $379 AUD each is a damn bargain compared to what's available here.

I have 2x RX 480 4GB cards en route at $199 each. Should be delivered tomorrow or Saturday.

Will probably pick up 2x RX 480 AIB custom cards for my main rig if they really can get close to 1.6GHz.

Bought a 4gb 480 for $199. Didn't see the point of an 8gb when truth be told I don't even really game anymore. lol. I just like hardware and the ability to fire up a game maybe once a week for a hour.

Nothing to do with not being able to afford whatever card I want. I just don't see the point in buying a high end card to collect dust and render my 1080p desktop.
