Still no reviews out for the powercolor devil 480. Lame. Did they not send any out for review or what :\

Question, for those of you wanting to pair the RX480 with a freesync monitor (144Hz?) Is this card even powerful enough? In OverWatch (not the most graphically intense game I don't think) at 3440x1440 and at "Ultra" setting (one notch below "Epic" which is max) I only get like 60-65FPS paired with a stock i7-6700K.

Most monitors I see being mentioned are standard 1440p (2560x1440) which would probably get like 70-80FPS if that?

Well there is no point if you can't get up to 144 frames, in your case a free sync monitor would make it a lot smoother so you don't notice jumps when it drops. But I'm assuming it doesn't drop much, yet free sync would help smoothen out things and you wouldn't need vsync in game settings.

One of the reasons I didn't get this card since I wanted to go 1440p it wouldn't be powerful enough in the games I like to play to get higher than 40+fps as I've seen from some results.

For 1080p, that's a different story.

Amazon has it for 470 from one seller, not Amazon themselves so its not quite that good of a deal but still a very solid one. Guess this deal makes forces the question on 480 vs 1060 for me.
I don't know if either 1060 or 480 would be good enough at 1440p. Most reviews and benches I saw at games that I play got around 45fps on 1440p. You do need more horsepower going from 1080 to 1440p and with 144hz as well. With never games pushing limits in details and such, pretty much why I got the Dell gsync monitor at $450.

Had I not bought the Dell, today I would have ordered the Acer but still went with a 1070.

At least with the pre order you are guaranteed one from Amazon. You should be good to go.

Yeah this seems easiest. I pre ordered one to from amazon shipped to my US address and will run down and get it when it finally ships.

I have a friend still using his GTX 460, but he rarely plays PC games or any games in general now. When did you pre-order yours on Amazon?

I guess if I haven't found this forum I would have jumped ship already. I imagine many gamers already jumped ship because they can't pick up any rx 480.

Well, as long as we have competition in the GPU market and hope AMD stays out of financial trouble to keep them from bankrupt, I honestly don't care which side gets my money.

GTX 1070/980 Ti/Fury X are the minimum I'd recommend for 1440P.

Gigabyte $399 1070 is in stock. I was out so couldn't order it. If it's in when I get home I'll get it. Sucks because I was hoping to use that $25 dollar coupon and it would have made a killer deal. Too bad it's expired.

Yeah also apparently this monitor has issues with it's freesync implementation. So back to playing the now in stock game on 480s and 1060s.

Still no non-ref 480 to be found in stock. Saw the MSI 1060 dual fan OC for $249 in stock in New Egg, really tempting to pull the trigger...

XFX gone! in about 60 seconds.

Powercolor still there. And I FINALLY got one after missing the Sapphire cards while looking for my credit card.

It's like Christmas in July!

Yup same thing is happening again. Miners pick up all the cards, they've inflated the prices of the rx 480 and while sales are made how many go to gamers?

The 1060 we know a majority of gamers are buying. We have people on this forum alone with 4+ rx 480s.

Same thing happened with the 290/x released. Prices were inflated due to Miners so people picked up gtx 780s.

3 generations straight of bungled card launches from amd. Only difference is this generation this forum wants to ignore the many ways the 480 under delivered.

The only thing that makes the 480 attractive is we know full well Nvidia products have a limited lifespan. If I get amd this generation it's only because of the mining capabilities and future performance. Definitely not impressive.
I've been pretty impressed with my rx480.. I don't remember the last time I bought a GPU for less than $400 and yet it doesn't feel like a compromise.

Eff me I just placed an order for the 1070 gigabyte and it got charged to PayPal then I get an email that newegg voided the transaction because they are out of stock.

Ugh. Nowinstock notification keeps saying they are in stock.

I did. Gave up waiting for a 480. Was just driving me crazy tracking email alerts from instocknow and scrambling to order only for cards to run out mid checkout. From what I'm reading of the 1060 reviews even the tiny one fan evga variant is nearly silent. The longer double fan MSI variant should be even more so.

Coming from a 7770, I'm expecting a big improvement. Maybe I'll sell the 1060 down the road and go back to AMD once goflow gets it together or maybe even Vega if I end up getting a 4k tv later this year. I don't want to go four years without a GPU upgrade again and using Nvidia makes me feel dirty.

I have been trying to get these cards as they work well for mining.

I have spent many hours working at it.

I mine I almost never game. Too old reflexes are not there.

They are hard to get at the correct prices.
