About three years ago a house got burned down in my neighborhood from misuse of fireworks. Later that year they banned fireworks in my neighborhood. So the next fourth of july there were no fireworks in my neighborhood. Fine. No big deal, those who wanted to light them off went to friends houses outside of out neighborhood.

So later that year the city passed ANOTHER bill banning them in ALL of the town. WTF! Now what are the kids going to do? Some of my favorite memories of growing up are on 4th of july, with the grill going, and all my buddies hanging out in my back yard, and later lighting of fireworks in the street.

Cant even buy them here.

They're illegal here (in St. Louis County), but it seems like nobody gives a rip. My neighborhood is full of police and firemen, and they're usually the ones shooting the big stuff off

As far as I know, this is pretty common. I'm pretty sure it's been illegal to set off fireworks everywhere I've lived since 1980 or so. The police and everyone else just usually look the other way.

That said, while I have nothing against fireworks, I have serious issues with the jackasses that set them off anywhere and everywhere, without regard for their proximity to other people or other people's houses.

Pretty sure it's illegal here in S. Florida, but a bunch of us chipped in and bought literally 3 carloads of fireworks. (the receipt was 4' long)

I can't, but I'm 1/2 a block from the East River, so I get to watch the awesome fireworks there for free!

It's pretty much Illegal everywhere around here ...
that being said ... as long as you don't shoot them at cars, etc, the cops don't bother you on the Fourth of July usually ... (here at least)

Yeah it definitely sucks. I just found out San Diego county doesn't allow them, and I was going to bring a trunkload for the BBQ from LA. Sorry ass alarmist response to dipsh!ts not watching their children.

They always say: "But I didn't know sparklers burned that hot!" IDIOTS. Morons love to ruin it for the rest of us.

Where's Amused for a proper response to this BS?

God, I wish. When I am king, social Darwinism will be officially instated and in the constitution - actually, it'll be in bold letters at the top.

Safety issue takes precidence. Many places will have sponsored areas for fireworks, controlled by professionals.

Others have the fire hazard to worry about.

As fireworks were made bigger, people became careless of the danger. With the genie out of the bottle, the best polciy was to ban them.

Children and adults can both be stupid in order to show off how dumb they are.

What do you expect from the people in Santa Rosa, there are way to many idiots around here who believe banning something prevents it from being used. I expect plenty of fireworks to go off and plenty of revenue (fines) generated for the city.

We can't in Collierville TN (suburb of Memphis), but there are tons of people who do anyways, and at least one gets fined. It's like the people gamble on whether or not they are going to be the one that gets caught.

personally I am glad they are illegal in my area...all it takes is one stupid dipsh!t to burn down a house, whether it was an accident or not...

since we are way under our average for rain for the year, i am sure the ground is pretty dry so it probably wouldn't take much for it to catch...

my $0.02....

Yeah, that sucks...but on the bright side you won't have to come home from watching the fireworks to a bunch of firetrucks in your driveway putting out what's left of your house either. A worthwhile trade off IMO.
