Who cares? (A little game developed by my Senior English teacher)

My senior English teacher has always given out throughout the semester a bunch of questions known as the "Who Cares." These questions are sometimes easy, but other times are quite difficult. He had us do these because he believes it helps us build our research skills and also builds on teamwork. So I present you with one of the questions. (Note: This is not my homework. I graduated in '99)

Why is blue associated with boys and pink with girls?

More questions to come once someone provides the answer.

That's still not known. I suppose pink is a softer color... associated more with weakness, warmth... blue is associated more with...water??

I remember that it was an ancient Jewish habit to give male babies a blue amulet after a certain nr of days, and female babies a pink one after a different nr of days, as protection against Lilith. Lilith was the first wife of Adam (Christians scrapped that part from the OT), and created as his equal. They couldn't agree on stuff and they broke up somehow, and God created Eve instead. Lilith got so pissed at Adam conceiving kids with Eve that she swore to try and kill all his offspring. She was the first 'undead', the first vampire.

But... I have no clue whatsoever why those colours were chosen in particular, I presume it's got to do with a pre-Jewish religion or habit.

This was called Sneezing
Sunday because on that day we were holding masses to averting the plague,
because the first symptoms of, was excessive sneezing. The saying "God bless
you", which we still wish a sneezing person, has its origin from the fear
of plague. However, later on, the superstition that sneezing "clears the head",
led to the popularity of snuff, so much so that snuffing and sneezing went,
on that day. * People believed that the number of times one sneezes on that
day, they will have that many move years to live.


Dunno how accurate this is, but it claims to be the origin...
