I'm not sure really...but I know it's not just America...

The international news websites I check out always have something about the Israel conflict on the front page...and with the exception of Foxnews and Israeli papers, they all seem to focus on how they can badmouth Israel

Take MSNBC.com for example...Middle East news was buried deep within the site as Israel withdrew and Palestinian suicide bombers and gunmen kept "doing their thing"

And then yesterday, after Israel decided to retaliate, they remembered about the region all of a sudden and put a big, fat "ISRAEL ATTACKS" on their front page...interesting stuff...

I care about any situation in which innocent people are dieing, and that's on both sides. I don't know how to stop it, no one does, but killing Arafat won't help at all. I really think that a 3rd party needs to intervene, but it needs to be a multi-national peacekeeping force. Otherwise, this could be WW3 in the making.

On the contrary bomberman, whenever I visit MSNBC, there always seems to be an emergency update about another bombing. I guess its when you visit the page. But like you said, reading International newsites varies greatly from American ones. Isreal is not looked upon very well around the world, but this recent increase of suicide bombing is just.....well.... I can't even describe it.

Oil is a relevant story to report on. Contrary to popular belief, however, there is no oil in Israel

I know, but Israel and Turkey are the biggest US military outposts in the region, and our primary concern with the middle east is for it's oil.

This is less about religion, and more about supporting the only democratically free country in the Middle East.

Actually I would say that we've basically been supporting whichever countries in the region who have been most friendly regarding our need for oil, which includes a lot of these horrible dictatorships with very poor "human-rights" track records. Past Iranian governments come to mind. Ditto for Iraq. I don't like the guy a whole lot, but Chomsky said something that pretty much sums it up: "Everything is branded a 'peace mission'". But really in the end it seems like our goal is sustaining our oil habit, "human-rights" be damned if need be. Another interesting note, apparently the two men who've been set up as the new leaders of Afghanistan are big-time OPEC dudes.

It's also about a country surrounded by nations that took weapons and money from communist countries to try and destroy that only democratically free country.

Well, we gave a lot of those countries weapons and money, until they were no longer useful to us.

i think its obvious why the arabians hate isreal, their news is gov owned, and they don't even know whats actually happening. they even think that Isreal where the ones to attack (in 67 i think) that led to the occupation. when these countries speak of the glory of killing isreal's children, how can they trust them? not like they didn't invade once before. they would again, but they know Isreal would whip their ass.

<< American news sources, both conservative and liberal, are preoccupied with Israeli news. If you want to hear about what's going on in the rest of the world, you have to go to the BBC. >>

i get the bbc and i really don't see how its coverage differs from america's, of course they have more news on europe, but its just 40 miles from the continent. not really a fair comparison. thats like saying how much news do the french get on south dakota.

besides there are about 20 (all News) news channels in america, at least 4-5 devoted entirly to world news. there are 60 million people in the UK, over 280 million in the US, a biit more national news is going to be made. even more so when your dealing with the federalist system, and each state can make its own silly llaws that are reported on.

<< And 4% of the population control 80% of the funds

Ok, I can let a lot of things pass, but this calls for a confrontation. Let's see your statistics, Sammy. Let's see some proof. That statement is so absurd as to be call into question your mental capabilities.

I'm waiting.

<< Gee....maybe it has something to do with the fact that Israel is our strongest ally in a very volitile and much needed, for it's resources, region >>

I thought the strongest ally to the US was Britain and Canada? How can Israel be our strongest ally, if anything, they will lead the rest of the world into WW3.

The US does not get its oil from Israel. It imports most of its oil from Saudia arabia, thats why the saudis have allowed the US to have a base in their country, but will not let them launch any attacks against Iraq. Also, incase you didn't know, the main religion that is practised in saudia arabia is islam and not Judaism!!!!!

The only thing Israel is good at, is exporting weapons from the US to further kill palestinians.
