Who do you believe Jose Conseco or the players denying it?

I can't figure out who do I believe more. Conseco is known to be a big liar and an ass, but at the same time I do believe that some players used steroids.

I'm going to agree with Michael Wilbon on this one: while some of the allegations Canseco makes may turn out to be corroborated by other sources, I won't give his word alone the benefit of the doubt.

The point is, no matter whether these players were dopers or not they will never sit with the greatest of ballplayers - I'm talking about the guys from the 30's, 40's, and 50's.

I get a funny mental image of like a steroid party when they said on Sportscenter that Conseco said that Mark McGuire and Jason Giambi were injecting each other.

We all know there is/was a steroid problem. But Conseco has no credibility and until there is evidence, I am not going to believe him.

i read today that rafael palmeiro is also being accused(and denying it).

i just have a hard time believing that everything canseco says is true.

If you notice, he is naming all the best players from the teams he was on. He isn't naming anyone that had a so-so season. I think he's just trying to make a bigger name for himself, and he doesn't care who goes down because of it.

There is no doubt that MLB has a big problem with steroids, and something needs to be done to address it. I haven't heard much recently about their supposed drug testing policy, but what they've had in the past was beyond ridiculous.

And come on. Giambi has admitted to taking steroids (knowlingly) and yet even he says Canseco is 'delusional'.

I think there is some truth to what he said. But also that he probably exaggerated some things.

Anyway Canseco is poor right now. He wanted a book that could make him lots of money and the only way to do that and stand out from the rest of the books was to name names. It'll make him some money but the last thing he needs right now is a libel suit so I think he mostly told the truth but probably blown some things up to make it sell better.

Well, in Giambi's defence... he admitted taking the cream, but not while with A's... Jose is implying that he nailed giambi and McGwire in the arse with his muscle juice...

Personally, I'm sure there's some truth to rumours, as McGwire dealt with a host of injuries while with the A's, and I'm sure he popped some steroids in order to hasten his recovery. However, I think most of what Jose says hese days is just hotair, trying to get his name back into the news...
