I would predict the following order: Romney, Paul, Gingrich, Bachmann, Perry, Huntsman, Santorum. It will be an interesting day in any case.

You have to remember, HuckAbEE won last time.
So it will be Bachmann or Perry.
iOwa republicans are frickin nutz!
And we will have to hear the constant drum beat from the media that Perry or Backmann could actually be the republican pick to go up against Obama.
So much BS......

I'm also guessing Romney will take it, but it's hard to call the rest. Everything is still fluid. Gingrich is dropping like a rock, Santorum is shooting up, and one of the Iowa hate-monger groups has a full-scale robo-call attack on Paul going because he won't sign their pledge to define marriage as one man and one woman. We'll know soon enough.

With the organization that Paul has he seems to be the best bet. I voted for Santorum just for kicks.

Ron Paul. I don't support him or endorse him - however, I don't turn a blind eye to it...

Boom.

I feel that Paul will either win or finish a very close second to Romney, with the two of them being probably at least 5% in front of the rest.

lol, Bachmann has zero chance to win the state - perry maybe. Paul has a better chance than both of them and I'm not a Paul supporter at all.

I would agree with you and DonVito. Newt peaked a bit too soon and santorum made his push too late.

Romney now seems pretty confident in winning Iowa as he is scheduled to stay in Iowa on Caucus night to give interviews before flying out to NH. I think Romney wins but depending on the spin i.e. Gingrich comeback or Santorum surprise, the media can spin the story some other way. I read a story that almost 50% of the ads in Iowa are negative against Newt so Newt was taken down by hubris but also because negative ads work.

Funny- I've never seen country folk wearing respirators... must use some pretty elaborate precautions with the well water, huh? Never let the kids play in the dirt, either, I suspect... No wild fish or game, either... What do you feed the milk cows, anyway?

Not to mention that your usual posting style indicates that my joke might be closer to the truth than you suspect...

"In Iowa, they pick corn. In New Hampshire, they elect Presidents."

GWB and Dole both won Iowa and then went on to win the nomination after losing New Hampshire. Usually, the winner of 2 of the first 3 states of Iowa/NH and South Carolina wins the Republican nomination. Romney may end up winning Iowa and New Hampshire while losing SC. That would be consistent with past history but not doing well in the South is not great for the eventual Republican nominee.

If I had to wager something, I'd put my money down on Ron Paul. It's his turn to enjoy the anti-Romney limelight now that Newt is kapewt.

Maybe the better question is to ask is why does it matter who wins Iowa? In terms of predictive value, there is no reason to say, as Iowa goes so goes the nation. Nor is New Hampshire that much better.

Both are early primary States, the winner does not matter in an a over bloated field. But like a similar horse race, woe be the horses that runs out of the money and fails to win, place, or show.

Once all the weak horses are eliminated and the field is trimmed to 2,3, or 4 horses, then and only then do subsequent primaries that matter become more telling. Because in a large field one can win out right with only 15% of the vote, but when the field shrinks, winning may mean 50% of primary voters in subsequent states.

Mitt Romney. I am not mormon, but I think that he is the one with economic experience. And he is not stupid as others.

Mitt Romney. I am not mormon, but I think that he is the one with economic experience. And he is not stupid as others.
Mitt Romney's economic plan shows that he has zero economic experience. He wants to raise taxes (by taking out deductions and loopholes), inflate more (he thinks it's unfair that we don't experience inflation as high as China does), and increase military spending (he wants a military strike on Iran, which means that he hates Americans). He won't cut the welfare out either. He'll just increase it.

Romney has been complaining about China manipulating their currency, which I'm personally grateful that they're doing, he wants to reduce the corporate marginal tax rate to 25% but then get rid of all deductions (so they'll actually pay more), he wants more tariffs on chinese imports, and he'll probably start the VAT. He's said Bernanke has done a good job so that means he doesn't support sound money. He supports managed trade agreements so that the elites can control it and then they lie to everyone about being for free trade when they're really against it.

He raised taxes as governor of MA and he didn't bring in a surplus even though he likes to say that he did. There weren't many new jobs in MA when he was governor either. In fact, when he was governor, MA was 47th in jobs.
