From what I've seen on the news, some of these Iowa caucuses consist of a bunch of people getting in a room, listening to some speeches, then raising their hands for certain candidates, and the votes are tallied on a white board. Wow, really? This seems like how voting could have been done in 1912, not 2012. Also, I can only imagine that the public nature of this type of caucus would discourage potential voters. What if your boss were there and raised their hand for a different candidate? Wouldn't you feel pressured to vote for that candidate? Also, the only people who are able to vote are forced to sit there for several hours and watch whatever ridiculous speeches. They just want to vote; they didn't come to see a show. I can see why only 4% of Iowans vote in these caucuses. That's 4% of a state with a very small population that is disproportionately white and evangelical compared to the rest of the nation. That small group of people get an undeserved enormous say in determining the momentum of the candidacy of the single most important person in our government. How...undemocratic.
