A better question is why the fuck should we care about Iowa in the first place.

I'm fucking sick and tired of our electoral process that favors small, rural, conservative states filled with inbred white hicks that know nothing other than god, guns, and Nascar. They in no way represent the majority of this country that lives on the coasts.

I want to see an electoral process where candidates actually spend most of their time where people actually LIVE in this fucking country. CA, NY, and most other big states are basically ignored entirely in any general election.

who in the fuck are you and why do you think you are so important?

Oh yeah, I forgot how the Paulsies think that Ron Paul didn't write the Ron Paul Newsletters that he subsequently defended.

Ron Paul is just pathetic. He couldn't even win a third rate state like Iowa after spending so many resources there. People saw through him and knew that he was despicable. Good for Iowans.

jesus dude we get it you hate paul we all know there is no way he is going to be president. So please shut the fuck up already.

Santorum had been out of the picture for a long time. I don't really remember him in detail, but wasn't he taken out of the picture in the 2004 election, then kept appearing on Fox News?

If my memory of him is correct, he's quite the diehard Neocon in the mold of Bush. I hope I'm wrong....

This may jog your memory regarding Santorum...

Rick Santorum named as one of the most corrupt politicians in 2006.
http://www.citizensforethics.org/in...nual-most-corrupt-members-of-congress-report/

http://www.citizensforethics.org/page/-/PDFs/Reports/CREW_Beyond_Delay_Report_20060920.pdf?nocdn=1

Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) is a second-term Senator, representing Pennsylvania. Sen. Santorum's ethics issues stem from the manner in which he funded his children's education and his misuse of his legistlative position in exchange for contributions to his political action committee and his re-election campaign....

I haven't bothered to vote in years because the entire process is heavily manipulated. However, RabidMongoose has inspired me to make the effort to vote. I'll be sure to vote for Ron Paul, even if I have to do a write-in.

Faux news is suggesting Romney will win by 14 votes.
Who knows?
But... will someone "please" in iowa get out there and clean up the corn spill on the road holding up the last results. Or get that cow off the road. Whatever the hell...
THIS is why iOwa does NOT deserve the #1 one slot.

??? dude you are looking at the online poll results, not the caucus results. romney an paul are at 23% each.

Oh big wup

Only 6,000 votes separated Santorum, Romney from Paul

plus there was 3,000 incomplete votes

That makes it close enough to a three way tie

I'm sorry if your state votes for Santorum you are clearly stupid and white trash in my book.

Couldn't care less about Iowa or its people, you are irrelevant to mainstream America and would remain so were it not for your unearned "first" caucus spot.

It's a religious anti-American state similar to Texas what do you expect?

This Santorum character is so anti-Gay type his name in google and see what comes up. He has something special named just for him since he is so anti-gay.

Real America would never vote for this guy and if the Electoral College did this would go in my Revolution tipping points thread and it would probably be already started if he managed to get voted in.

Official results say Romney by 8 votes

http://news.yahoo.com/gop-romney-beats-santorum-8-votes-073941845.html

Romney beats Santorum by 8 votes

The chairman of the Iowa Republican party says former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has won the Iowa caucuses by eight votes. Chairman Matt Strawn made the announcement of the razor-thin margin from Des Moines.

Romney narrowly edged out former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. Strawn says Romney got 30,015 votes and Santorum received 30,007 votes.

That is a margin of eight votes.

As far as I'm concerned it was a 3-way tie for all practical purposes. It can be called a win by Romney in terms of actual numbers, a win for Santorum because where the hell did his support come from and a win by Paul since he wasn't expected by the MSM to perform this well. Gingrich is choking on dust and the rest of the pack should save their supporters money and drop out soon.

On that note, how many people have phones anymore? Considering it is landlines vs cell phones. I would say most people with landlines are old folks, and as far as I know, they only call landlines for telephone polls.
That is very true and is a known bias. It causes Ron Paul to under poll, and it caused Obama to under poll, because their support is dis-proportionally young and the young are less likely to own land lines. (Although we don't have a land line and I'm in my fifties.)

About how I see it. Disturbing though since Santorum is the one Republican candidate that would absolutely positively make me vote for Obama, which is NOT something I want to do.

EDIT: Bachmann is dropping out; she finished sixth in her birth state among a highly evangelical base and she's broke. That suits me too, since I'm 95% convinced I'd have to vote for Obama were she to get the nod.

I sincerely, sincerely doubt Santorum will win anything else anywhere, or even come particularly close. He might stand an outside chance in South Carolina, but that's it. The only reason he scored as well as he did in Iowa is that Iowans hate Mitt Romney and opposition research hadn't had time to tear him down yet. (he's yet another fat target for oppo teams)

As I've been saying from the beginning, it's Mitt Romney all the way.

How many votes was that again? I didn't catch it the first eight times you said it.

Yes, ofcourse Santorum won't do well elsewhere but it not because the lack of oppo research. They have been blasting anti-Santorum ads here in Iowa. It's out there - there was just more focus on RP's newsletters and the media narrative that Newt was loosing support.

And it might be much more or less. How come republicans aren't bitching about no photo ID's being required to participate in the caucus?

Oh, that's right...it's ok because it's only repubs voting in a 86% white state.

Sure, I just think it would take some more time to rip him down. If they were blasting ads against him I imagine it has only been for about a week or so, and for the others it took a bit more time than that to deflate them.

I'm frankly really surprised that Santorum did as well as he did. He was my senator in PA for a number of years, and all party affiliation aside that guy is a pretty loathsome individual. He made me even angrier because I felt like a bad person due to the amount of satisfaction I got out of this picture when he lost his Senate seat.

If the GOP pisses you off I recommend voting third party, whoever it is. Unless they don't allow those on the ballot in your state.
