Who doesn't have a tablet?

On a whim, I got a Nexus 7 in the beginning of the year just to see what it did. I only use it when traveling as I don't like to haul a laptop and my phone is just to small for any extended use.

I like it.

I do have laptop but seldom use it anyway so no point to get tablet

I told you this whole stupid mobile computing trend would DIE. People thought desktops were dead so they SCREWED up EBAY, YOUTUBE, ETC, ETC, to make them icon-centric, big touchbutton, 3rd grade garbage!

Well guess what baby, desk tops WILL NEVER DIE. I proved it by that stating the fact as early as 2010 that when laptops first emerged en mass on the consumer scene back in the late 80s and early 90s THEY TOO were predicted to kill the desktop. Smartphones where supposed to kill the desktop as well.

Get this through your thick skulls - DESKTOPS ARE HERE FOREVER! Please undo all the damage you did to the internet (especially Youtube) in favor of the folly of a dominate mobile computing based internet.

Mobile computing gets its own environment such as mobile.youtube.com, mobile.ebay.com, etc., and thats it!

And stay off my lawn!

I'm fairly sure many people spend enough time on their chairs sitting in front of a computer. If so, then why spend even more time in front of a tablet sitting on a couch? Isn't it more of the same? Yes, you are looking at moving images instead of spreadsheets but you're still staring at a screen.

So tablets allow us the ability to spend even more time in front of a computer screen.

I got a Kindle Fire HD last Christmas, completely unexpected. I didn't have any dislike for tablets but never really thought of spending any money on one. I instantly liked it though, and while I don't use it a ton, I have multiple books on it and recently put CyanogenMod on it which is cool. I am also an Amazon Prime member so that makes it better as well.

I have a desktop, a laptop and my HTC One cellular phone. Don't feel any need for a tablet.

I've wanted one for a few years, and gotten close a few times but never pulled the trigger. I just don't want to spend the cash on one. It's definitely a want and not a need for me. I was planning on buying one for work, but then they gave us some pretty nice Dell XPS netbooks. One day I'll break down I'm sure, just not today.

I snagged an HP Touchpad when they had the fire sale. Only used it a few times in the first year.

And then my aunt got me hooked on Words for Friends. So I just had to install Android so that I could play. I'm addicted. I spend all day waiting for new words.

I tried WWF on my HP TouchPad running Android and it wouldn't work right. Crashed constantly. When I could somehow trick it to stay running, the layout was completely screwed-up as if it wasn't designed to tolerate that screen aspect (very few Android tablets are 4:3 aspect). I don't remember if I was using CM7 or CM9 at that point.

Don't spend all day waiting. Start more simultaneous games. You know you can challenge strangers, right?

Sister uses it for Netflix now. Complains all the time if she ever tries to do *anything* outside of the Netflix app. Even in Netflix, she complains about audio issues I can't reproduce.

Don't have a need for one and having to hold it vs using my laptop is stupid IMO. I can see a benefit to having one while sitting on the crapper, but that's about it. LOL! When they have speech to text on a tablet then maybe I'll consider.

TTS is available on tablet... yes, they do have speakers, but implementation vary greatly.

I actually won an iPad mini from mycoke rewards in July. When it was finally delivered about a month ago, I sold it without even opening the package. I have no use for a tablet.

Nice thing was it was the easiest sale I ever made, there were 4 people in the office who all wanted it.

My iPad and iPhone can do speech-to-text absolutely anywhere you can type. There are also text-to-speech accessibility options built-in.

I guess you meant "iPad mini." I'm not kidding when I say it's the greatest gadget I've ever owned...and I'm a gadget guy.

Will never get rid of desktop.

But a tablet has pretty much totally replaced my laptop. A laptop was always such a compromise in terms of being able to use a mouse and keyboard efficiently, having enough room on the display to work, ect. A tablet gives me the exact same problems, but in a device that is infinitely easier to transport and use for small tasks.
