you're using the internet right now. QUIT ABUSING THE INTERNET OMG

last time i checked the internet is not a chemical substance I put into my body to get high.

Do you drink energy drinks for energy or coffee or energy? Is it wrong if people do? What about drinking alcohol? Is that bad? What about sleeping pills to sleep or pain pills to get rid of pain? None of what I mentioned is bad, it's only bad when a person uses it to a point that it negatively affects their life and the people around them. It's all the same idea, only difference is the that it is against the law, and slowly, state by state, that is being reversed because people see no need for that.

if you are using it to get high, then it negatively affects everyone around you.

I guess I'm one of the rare ones that have never even tried drugs. For some reason I never had any desire to try them. I'm currently 45. Also I've never gotten drunk before.

You cannot possibly know that, it's just propaganda.
There are plenty of people using illicit drugs on a regular/semi-regular basis with it not affecting the people around them at all. You probably even know a few.

How so?

KT

Edit: of course I am talking about casual users, not those that abuse on a daily basis. My old boss used to smoke pot with his wife all the time. Smartest guy I've ever known and wildly succesful, but they still smoke on weekends. I never saw it adversely affect him n any way, unlike a lot of the drinkers we had/have here.

I think weed is generally much better than alcohol - it doesn't make you do stupid stuff or act weird and it won't leave you with a hangover.

I don't know, it can make you laugh hilariously at things that really aren't that funny

That's the thing I remember about pot. I remember this kid in junior high or something. Once he started smoking pot, he completely changed -- all he did was giggle and laugh at things that weren't even funny. It seemed like he didn't have any motivation at all. It was annoying to be around him.

It is quite funny how unaware some people are. One time I was with my mom in a park overlooking a city and we were just sitting there enjoying the view and talking. I turned to the right of me and there was a group of people smoking weed, I turned to the left of me and there was another group where one guy was taking weed out of a ziplock bag and rolling up a few joints.

After we left, the conversation went a bit like this:

Me: "wow, people sure do smoke a lot of weed here"
Mom: "huh? what?"
Me: "you did not see this?"
Mom: "see what?"
Me: "everybody body there was smoking weed"
Mom: "really?! I didn't notice"

lolwut?

Propaganda bullshit.

And the term 'high' is getting used negatively here, just because it's something that is illegal because the government is retarded (and thankfully we are on the very very slow trend towards legality).
It's harmless, and for public use would need to have mandated usage terms/bans.
But regardless. When you drink to feel the effects of alcohol, you are 'getting high'. When you smoke tobacco, you are 'getting high'.
The term getting high is only a reference to the feelings of extreme consumption of some real quality product. If moderated, much like alcohol or tobacco consumption, or any other chemical, it is far from problematic and won't interfere with anything. Take it to the limits, and what you get is someone who is far too incapacitated to even want to move, thus they just become sloth until their high is over. No danger to anyone. Anything less than that, if they can move, they are fine unless they have never been high before.
So to recap, getting high is far from an offense. It's equal to getting drunk or getting really buzzed off of nicotine if you go that route (and basically gotta be new to it). So look at it this way: when you use a product to feel its effects, you are thus seeking the 'altered state' due to the chemical in question. Being drunk is FAR FAR more dangerous, to everyone including yourself, when compared to being high from weed.
If you try and say otherwise, you are a fool who needs to take his direct anti-drug propaganda wire feed and smash it up. Wake up and realize that many drugs are far less harmful when done appropriately, especially in comparison to the very common and accepted alcohol use.

poll?

I smoke a few times a week to combat intense migraines.

I would get a migraine 3-4 times a week. I would just take an Imitrex when I got one then I changed to Fioricet. I started smoking a few times a week and I've only had about 3 migraines over the course of 6 months. I actually went on vacation to Puerto Rico a few months ago (of course i didn't bring any weed) and wouldn't you know, 3 days into the vacation - migraine.

Maybe, he is growing up and seeing other points of view.

I don't drink coffee or energy drinks. (Oh and I don't drink "energy") I rarely use pain pills and the only time I ever use them is when I get my braces tightened(and I need the pills in order to eat) or when I break a bone. Even then I am just using ibuprofen... I didn't really use any pain pills though for when I broke my arm. It was mind splitting pain though.

So I guess what I am trying to say is, "SUFFER BITCH!"

I can honestly say I have never smoked anything, or used any illegal substance. Ever. And I was a musician in a bar band too!

I saw what drug use did to all of my musical heroes in the 70's, and vowed never to touch the stuff.

Ummm...

And their map is missing Massachusetts, which just decriminalized under an ounce.

Yes it is being reversed. There are currently 7 or so states that have decriminalized it or are working on it.

Good for you not drinking coffee or energy drinks or taking pain pills. I'm am proud of you for such a great accomplishment. Your life blows anyway, so I'm glad you have something to be proud of. Why don't you go jerk off on stickam now and eat some fruit loops?

EDIT: Oops, guess there are about 12.

Pretty sure he wasn't killed by anything illegal.

Show me one state where it is legal to sell/buy and smoke pot right in front of a police officer.

Go smoke some more pot stoner. I am sure it helps you sleep at night.

You want the states you can do that in, okay look at this map. After you look at the pretty picture, take 5 minutes and read this wiki article, then kindly SHUT THE FUCK UP.

"Most places that have decriminalized cannabis have civil fines, drug education, or drug treatment in place of incarceration and/or criminal charges for possession of small amounts of cannabis, or have made various cannabis offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement."

Last I checked... that isn't 100% legal.
