Nowadays the only paper check I write is to my landlord. Everything else I pay online.

Car
Car insurance
renters insurance
Credit cards
loan
cell phone
cable
electric
gas

It's great, anybody else going paperless?

I'm down to one a month too. theoretically I could use online banking to pay my rent but my evil landlord doesn't want to give out her account number.

I am like you and hardly ever use them except at a few local payment centers for two bills I cannot pay online or over the phone yet - water and electricity. I wish they would get with the times and get online.

I use 2 per month. 1 for rent, and one for a CC that only takes check or cash.

Even my mortgage is online. My last few checks (spanning last few months) were just for re-paying people money I owed them. All bills are online... saves a ton of stamps.

I still have a few assbackwards service providers (HELLO PECO AN EXELON COMPANY) that for some reason charge extra for phone payments and their online payment system doesn't like me.

Everything is e-Bill here. Saves a lot on stamps and no need to waste any checks. I even transfer money to friends and family through paypal. It's all good.

Why do you need it?
My online bill payment only needs the payee's name, address & phone, and your account number with the payee, if there is one. If they can't set up an electronic funds transfer, they just cut a paper check & mail it. I have one set up like that to pay back some cash I borrowed from my dad.

In any case, I pay daycare with paper checks, since they screwed things up when I tried to do online billpayment to them , and my water bill (every 3 months), because I hase to send the stub back with the meter reading on it anyway.

Most stuff is paid online now. Just a few checks a month. Electric company is a small coop, no electronic payment options, and the cheapest grocery store around here (Winco) only takes cash and checks, no debit or credit card.

i got like 500 free checks when I opened my checking account @ wellsfargo 1.5 years ago. I've used exactly one, and that's only because for some reason my debit cards pin # wasn't working that day
