My rent, car payment, and the occasional pizza delivery are all I use paper checks for.

I want to know why my local city even HAS internet access for their computers if they're not going to accept payments online...
wtf else does a clerk need internet access for? Oh yeah... so they can waste my $$ by doing things like posting on ATOT. (so, I guess it's okay.)

I rarely use checks anymore, either. Pretty much everything goes on my credit card and then I pay that online. I don't have my own place yet so no rent check and I can pay my student loan online. This past year at school, I'd write two checks per month normally. One to the apartment for rent and one to one of my roommates for power and internet.

I only use paper for rent.

I get paid in direct deposit, and pay all of my bills on the net.

I've only used 12 or so checks since I opened my checking account in June 2003...usually for payments to individuals, or the rare car repair before I got my credit card (which I now pay online).

Why do you need it?
My online bill payment only needs the payee's name, address & phone, and your account number with the payee, if there is one. If they can't set up an electronic funds transfer, they just cut a paper check & mail it. I have one set up like that to pay back some cash I borrowed from my dad.

In any case, I pay daycare with paper checks, since they screwed things up when I tried to do online billpayment to them , and my water bill (every 3 months), because I hase to send the stub back with the meter reading on it anyway.

hey thanks for that, BoA changed it to be the way you said. I know when I first signed up with them a couple years ago you needed the accont no. you were sending to.

edit--I hope the check doesn't look too funky, my LL is old and dumb. to test it I have scheduled a payment to myself for $1 so I know what the envelope and check will look like

I'm totally paperless. Hate writing checks anyway. Even pay rent online

I probably use less than 1 per month. Only time I ever write checks now is if I owe a friend money.

I still write checks for everything, I like being able to pull a duplicate out when I need to without having to pay my bank a $7 fee.
