No big salary, no BMW's etc?

That pretty much rules out 90+% of this forum, sorry.

Funny how most people play themselves up though.

I'm pretty average. Everyone likes to think they're above average, but if they were, then that would make everyone the new average-so they'd be back to sqaure one.

Wow...I just blew my mind!

First and foremost, it depends how you define big salary. Next, you have to realize driving a BMW doesn't mean... well, anything more than you drive a BMW. It certainly doesn't mean you've got money, no matter what the people who drive them want you to think.

I'm just a working schmuck. I made the conscious decision to *not* persue a networking/IT career many years ago after realizing I didn't want to spend my days that way. The career path I chose provides a nice living; I drive a decent car and live in a desirable neighborhood, in a nice burb with a good school district. It doesn't pay so well that my wife doesn't need to work (she actually makes FAR more than I do), but it's work I enjoy, working with people I like, and that's very important to me.

My income doesn't define me as a person. It merely allows me to provide for my family in a way that allows for a good start in their lives. The payoff will come when my wife and me retire financially secure.

My family playing twister on Christmas day in the mid 70s. (two brothers are out of the shot... the one bending over in the back is the one who's house I posted)

My late 40s (maybe 50?) father taking the lead. (I miss him so much, it still brings tears to my eyes)

I grew up a normal middle class kid... with a very sloppy family.

I'm about as "average" as they come.

Last night my wife and I had buffalo chicken sammiches from Hardees that I used a B1G1F coupon on. I splurged and got curly fries instead of regular.

I washed it down with a bud select. The wife had a "Dr. Thunder" Walmart cola knockoff.

We're pretty average

yea i'm in your situation, but (no offense) you really don't know much about mazdas . mazdaspeed 6 (in addition to the regular mazda 6) has a turbo and 6 speeds for its manual...so mazdaspeed 3 would have a 3 speed manual? lol i got bored with a 4 speed corvette cause i rarely had to change gears, imagine 3....ok ok i'll stop, this isn't a car thread

anywho, maybe shawn and i aren't average joes...is the average joe going to college these days?

No one has corrected this guy yet? Obviously you don't know much about Mazdas

A Mazdaspeed 3 is a the Mazdaspeed version of the Mazda 3. It has the same motor as the Mazdaspeed 6 but is not AWD. And it does also have 6 gear MT. More Info

Anyway as far as being an average joe, I am indeed one. I am currently making $14/h and paying rent. I did just get a new job with a base salary of $30k plus commission, but i'll be moving to a more expensive area where I will be stuck renting for who knows how long. At least I don't have credit card debt, but I do owe 14k on my Mazda 3 and 13k in student loans

Last night the wife and I ordered Papa Gino's Pizza. i was ecstatic when I got to use my AAA card to get a free kids meal ($4 Chicken Tender and Fries meal) with my pizza. My daughter was already in bed, but we still got it and I enjoyed it. Right now, we are your average duel income family making ends meet.

Regular Joe here too. I work with a bunch of elitist wanna-bes, but for me that just reinforces how regular I am.

I don't make a lot, nor drive a fancy car. I'm pretty prosperous though. I live in a nice house and have a great wife. I'm a paramedic so I help people for a living, which is one of the best feelings in the world when you help someone that truly needs it. My home life is calm. I'm a regular joe, but I like it.
