Who exactly was Mrs. Robinson?

I always thought Mrs. Robinson was written before The Graduate (great movie, BTW).

Actually, S&G wrote just the chorus of Mrs. Robinson for the movie (if you watch the movie you'll notice that the chorus is all you hear). When the movie (and the music) became a huge success, S&G decided to write the verses and release it as a whole song.

It's a classic movie... if you haven't seen it yet rent it sometime.
