My old system had the following specs:
Pentium 4 Prescot @3GHZ
7800GT @ 490/1220
1.5GB PC3200 DDR RAM
1 200GB WD HDD
IDR the motherboard, but it was a microatx mobo
All this on a 305 watt hipro power supply. I kept my system like that for a couple months until I was convinced that a power supply was an important part of a system. I know better now. I think that P4 will consume more power than anybody's core 2 duos. This was taken from the other thread, I'm curius to see who would win this thread.

If it was a 510w Powmax Assassin I would be impressed.

You could get like 5 computers on a 510W PC P&C.

I know, but its the least rated PSU with the most hooked to it that I own. Just contributing.

My other machine has an OCZ, but a 600w.

Audigy 2
Highpoint Rocket RAID 133

2x Seagate SATA 500GB
Light-on 16x DVD bruner
Benq 16x DVD drive

all running on a PC Power & Cooling 850w (I don't win but it is a nice PSU) after the Antec 480W wouldn't let the system run stable. Put the Antec in a friends system and it ran fine. According the my APC UPS I am only pulling 251W from the wall at idle.

You forgot to mention that it's also running not only all 14 of the 250mm fans in your case, but also providing all of the 12v power for the rest of your boat.

I have a P4 3.0c, Intel 875 mobo, 1 gig DDR400, 2x 250 seagates SATA in RAID 0, two NEC DVD burners, ATI 850XT AGP card. All in a Sparkle 300w PSU. 12v rail was at 11.55 but it has been rock stable for almost a year.

Holy crap! I think you just won this competition! This isn't some twisted joke, right?

The website doesn't seem very well made, though.

Sparkle's are sweet, I have a 200w running my server right now with a 9700Pro, Prescott 2.4, 250GB HD with DVD Burner, wireless net work card, and a few misc items.

Never even questioned it.

In my experience, yes they are. They aren't a PC Power & Cooling, but they are much better than any Thermaltake from what I have seen and played with.

Hmmm...not sure if my Antec 550EPS qualifies as a low rated PSU, but I'm pretty surprised it's been holding up.

It's running a Pentium D 930 @ 3.75, dual X1950XTXs @ stock, 2 DVD burners, 2 hard drives, 2 gigs of ram and the system runs 100% 24/7 because of F@H. Not too shabby.

I have a QX6700 and Bad Axe 2 on the way to replace the Gigabyte 975x and Pentium D 930, I expect it to run them as well.
