It really can't compare to the great ones, but it's incredibly fun. I probably watch it about once a month (for the last 3-5 years) and love it just as much now as I ever did.

Ugh, maybe without Chris Tucker this movie would be tolerable.. but that's still a reach. I just don't get why some people think it's so damn good.

How can you NOT be annoyed by some of the ridiculous characters in it?? Don't get me wrong, I love Bruce Willis in almost all of his roles, but please give me a break with those costumes and the singing and that villain who has his hair painted on or something. Please.. it's nothing more than a visual effects ride with bad acting.

I guess it's not 'so weird that it's good' to me, I do remember watching it once in a while on HBO when it first got on cable though, just grew tired of it early on.

It's not a horrible movie per say, but it's got a little too much glam and cheese in it to be anything more than teenager fare. Bruce Willis' presence isn't the automatic bonus some might think it is, unless watching him re-hash that kind of character (again) does it for you.

Sorry, but it's time to broaden your cinematic repertoire. There are far better movies out there than 5th Element.



Just saw Sunshine the other night, and I liked it much more for a sci-fi offering than 5th Element.

Just saw Sunshine the other night, and I liked it much more for a sci-fi offering than 5th Element.

Pretty much how I feel about the 5th Element as well, though I thought Sunshine fell apart towards to end and could have been much better, but I digress. However I don't think you can compare the 2, one tried to be a serious space exploration movie while the other screamed popcorn-flick chock full of visuals and comedy from the get-go. It is a little funny that both movies have a 7.3/10 on IMDB too.

But yeah.. plenty of other Sci-Fi movies trump 5th Element IMHO.

It's one of my favorite sci fi movies, and one of the few DVDs that I own that I actually watch over again. about 90% of them just collect dust, which is why i stopped buying movies.

Not the best ever but pretty damn good. I love the humor and the visuals are stunning. The movie is very well timed and has a pulse to it that few movies have. It has many very talented actors in it and they all shine. Even the untalented actors featured in the film shine because of the incredible direction.

I would have to say that it is probably my favorite movie ever...but, I do recognize that in comparison to some of the more hailed great movies, it doesnt stack up at all.
