Who here agrees The Fifth Element is one of the best movies ever made ?

First of all, it's not Sci-Fi, in my opinion. I only consider movies sci-fi if there's a speck of plausibility in them, otherwise they are just adult cartoons. Is it entertaining and well done, yes, mainly on the strength of the cast. Is it a "great" movie, no, not in my opinion. I agree with the guy above, you need to watch more movies, and not Hollywood crap.

I think it's sci fi based on your criteria.
Maybe not the plot, but many of the attempts to depict the future.
I wouldn't doubt that there would be a luxury space vacation liner, probably not with [l=chris tucker with the faggoty hair and persona]http://scifipedia.scifi.com/images/c/c8/The_fifth_element.jpg[/], but I wouldn't doubt there would be an explosion of these eccentric personalities as we aim to be more and more understanding of people, especially with the internet where there are message boards and chatrooms for genital mutilation to sibling fantasies. I mean, if you had the prudes from centuries ago come to today's world, that sees someone with a different color skin as a freak, god knows how they would cope if they came to today's world.
It may not be a thought provoking asimov or clark cynical portrayals of the future, but it doesn't try to be either. But it does give some fun portrayals of other aspects of the future that most geek sci fi writers would be oblivious to.

It's a fun movie. Just leave it at that.

Go see Blade Runner then get back to us about 5th elements greatness again. It was a silly messy movies with bad dialogue, a silly plot, silly characters and wooden acting. Not saying it wasn't fun to watch despite all of this but a great movie it was not. Even blade runner isn't a GREAT movie just one of the best in that genre.

I enjoyed it. Though I admit it's only because I'm a big Bruce Willis fan. As in I can "easily fall in love" with the main character.

Other than him and even that talking fire-fuck-ball that wanted to kill everybody, I found the cast completely unlikeable.

It also was not the best movie ever made. Ever.
