Same here. I don't think I've ever even seen jeans (knowingly anyway) that cost $200.

Who makes them, union workers getting $50/hr?

nope, Chinese kids making $.50 a week...

For the designer jeans? Depends on who you're buying it from. My Dolce & Gabbana and Diesel jeans (I own one pair of those and it's not the kind that CasioTech tries to pass off, it's some other kind that isn't in their normal line of jeans) are made in Tunisia. My Just Cavalli jeans are made in Italy.

~$100 is my cap atm. I couldn't believe the difference when I stopped wearing $50 AE/Hollister jeans and started wearing nicer stuff. However, I still don't see much of a different with the next step up into the $200 range. Quality seems similar, with the biggest difference being crazy patterns and sewing jobs... something I'm not interested in.

You can tell a difference in quality between regular clothing and designer clothing. I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on each item of clothing because I live in FL and anything beyond shirts and a light shirt is a waste for most of the year. I guess I could be trendy and wear jeans and a polo but that's really nice when outside sweating your sack off because you had to be stylish.

You want $200 jeans and have women notice you.... have at it. If I were single, I'd opt for cheaper jeans and then be able to buy those women a few extra drinks at the bar.

This flame war is highly amusing, but no one here has even mentioned the really high end arena of jeans. Diesels and Seven jeans are considered mass-market brands with some occasionally nice cuts and spotty quality (especially for the price) by denim lovers. Here are some examples of denim for people who take it far too seriously: Example 1 and Example 2. You've gotta be really interested in your clothes to want to know the weight of their fabric and their measurements in 5 or more areas. And lots of denim people love their jeans raw - no washes means all the indigo ink they were dyed in is still there.

I doubt there are many people on this forum who are interested in the high-end jeans market, but other forums like Styleforum and Superfuture are full of (usually pretentious and elitist, unfortunately) people who like this stuff. They also trend towards the form fitting style of fits which has put off more than one thread poster so far.

I would also really discourage anyone who buys expensive clothes for confidence or thinking ladies love it. Nothing is going to substitute for the natural self-confidence that attracts all people to you. Once you have that, everything else doesn't matter.

Same here. They're much looser-fitting, thinner, and more flexible.

I think it's probably been, oh maybe 5-6 years since I've worn jeans. Khaki cargo pants are the norm now.
A regular cotton T-shirt completes the look.

Getting dressed in the morning: About 30 seconds.

$200 jeans > $15 jeans. The question is whether you are willing to pay such a price premium. I'd rather buy $200 jeans than max out my credit card on a core 2 extreme.

Question for those who say they wouldn't spend $200+ on jeans.

Would you spend that much on a wallet, or even over a $100 on a tie?

For the ladies would you spend over a $1000 on a purse.

I would never spend $200+ on jeans, but I have spent more than that on a wallet, and I own a few ties for over $100 each. I even help buy someone a $1500 purse for christmass a few years back.

yea i go with no to both, wallet simply because a quality one can be had for far less then that, simple leather one, and as for ties, i so rarley wear one that any normal priced tie is fine

i had a GF who once purchased a 500$ purse, i told her she was a retard

No and no. Also no to spending $100 on a shirt or a pair of shoes (but the shoes are very close any more).

£50-75

£75 is about the top I'll spend personally. £100 they would have to be really special...

All the diesels I've seen go up to waist size 33 only.....so basically you have to be a skinny midget to think about fitting in them. please explain why/when skinny midgets became cool?

$200 jeans is too much scratch for some denim. I can replace a tire on my truck for that price and get far more use and worth out of the tire.

good job billy, are you going to the rodeo show later tonight?

Nope, ain't no rodeo show t'nite, it's the monster truck rally fer me! Yeeehaw!

The point I was trying to make (which you either missed or ignored, par for the course when you're involved) is that I can't justify spending $200 on a pair of jeans when there's something I'd far far far far more use out of. I just bought 4 new tires for my truck @ $200 ea so that was the first thing to to come to mind.

BTW, CT, are they called Diesel jeans because somebody dipped them in diesel fuel? 'Cause that's what they look like!

Yes to both.

My mums gave me an LV wallet as a gift. It's been 7 years now and it looks like it'll keep on going for another 10. I <3 that wallet.

I'd drop >100 on maybe 2 ties. A burberry one + a different one. But I'm also a tie nazi - no dimple no care.

Not at this point, no. I acknowledge that there may be a time where I'll be willing to spend that amount on a tie, and maybe even a wallet, but that time is not now and I don't ever see it happening for jeans.

Not on a wallet, but definitely on ties. In fact almost all of my ties cost more than any of my jeans ever have. I also wear ties much more often than I wear jeans, so maybe that's why.

yes, I would

I would pay good money for anything of superior quality; I just fail to see the superiority $200 jeans vs $50 jeans. I have a coach briefcase, a coach wallet, and plenty of other expensive items. I admit, I like nice things; but expensive leather is better than cheap leather. Same goes for watches; I have a semi-expensive watch, but again, some watches are superior to others. I just dont feel that the actual quality of jeans varies much when we're in the $50+ price range.

Most I've spent on a tie was around $30.

The quality varies a lot from Walmart Jeans to Designer Jeans. Most high end jeans are made in the USA or Europe rather than Indonesia or China. They are inspected for defects, I know if a thread breaks or seam breaks on a pair of True Religion jeans the people in the store will repair them while you wait (Rock and Republic does this as well?).

The denim is heavier and softer, the all the seams are double stitched, and each wash is unique. There is 0 doubt you are buying a higher quality product, you just have to decide if your jeans are that important to you.

I think in that price range, the jeans are too artsy and emo, and look stupid.
I suppose I can see myself spending up to $100 for real high quality jeans that fit me well, but I've never spent more than $50 yet
