I always thought it was a state execution. Didn't he break the laws at the time? I'm no expert here, so correct me if I'm wrong, but in the time of Jesus the State could put anyone to death for various reasons...or no reason at all. In that case I don't think it would be murder would it?
Even more screwy is Passover. "Hey, let's commemorate that time when the god we worship murdered all those innocent children!"
You're a week early, Good Friday represents when he was crucified. My church has a bacon and eggs brunch and a service.

My church has a bacon and eggs brunch and a service but I'll be getting off night shift the day before so I'll miss it, but will be going to the Easter Sunday service then my mom is making turkey and stuff. Probably end up eating lot of chocolate too. Especially when it goes on sale.
Jesus died for our sins, it's a great thing to celebrate.
I've never understood why they call it good Friday. Seems like a fairly bad day. And shouldn't it be three days before Easter, not two?
Meat on a Friday used to be a cardinal sin. And, I thought it was turkey for Thanksgiving; ham for Easter. What's the point of following traditions if you can't follow the traditions? You're a week early, Good Friday represents when he was crucified. Eggs are appropriate for Easter morning. Good Friday should be observed with bagels. Bagels remind us of Jesus' Jewishness. The hole in the center reminds us of the wounds Jesus suffered for our sins (shout out to the Catholics here), and the toroidal shape of the bagel reminds us of the logic required for one to adopt the faith.Meat on a Friday used to be a cardinal sin. Pilate says something like, "I find no fault in this man for which he should be killed." But he goes through with it since he fears the Jews will riot.
If you kill me I'll become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
But did he? Obi Wan's remaining role was reduced to yelling, "Run Forrest, run!"

And if you have more than one Torah, you have Torahs.Eggs are appropriate for Easter morning. Good Friday should be observed with bagels. Bagels remind us of Jesus' Jewishness. rather a dick thing for your church to do, considering Jesus was Jewish.
Lot of religions follow the Bible then start to add/remove stuff as they see fit.
