I've worked in a theme park, public library and elementary school library and been self-employed, but for 13 years before all that I had what I consider the best (and most challenging) job ever: photojournalist.

I've met and hung with the cream and sludge of society and documented every imaginable aspect of the human drama: celebs, politicians, disasters, pro sports, lots of aerospace (the space shuttle looks pretty cool inside), the music industry, crime, religion, drug addicts, the homeless, death, destruction...anything and everything you can think of.

Then the newspaper industry all but evaporated due to this little thing called the Internet. That and I'm more settled now with a wife and kids.

But it rocked while it lasted.

Edit: back when I was a working shooter, the job paid dirt. Today, I understand the young photojournalists coming into the profession have to provide their own dirt.

I work quite possibly the crappiest job out there. Cleaner/driver for a car rental company. They don't value their employees and pay below industry standard. It's a high stress environment to begin with. Their poor attitude and tendency to hang the front line staff out to dry when the going gets tough (ie. they overbooked) makes it worse. Was a student job but I got stuck there when the recession hit. My professional field isn't generating many entry level jobs right now.

However, I have a diploma in new media journalism. Broadcast basically. I interned at a radio station and volunteer at the local cable access channel. I edited audio at the radio station and wrote copy stories for the website. I do camera at sporting events for the cable channel. If it fun? Hell yeah. I'd kill to get paid to do it.

I'm a patent attorney, which is cool in some respects (talking to inventors about new technology), boring in other respects (patent drafting and prosecution is monotonous), loved by some (inventors and big business) and hated by others (many members of the general public).

That, would be me.

I get paid to have sex with virgins before they become prostitutes. 18 year old Eastern European young women are sent to my house and I do them. I do them good.

No condom either. And, they are already on the pill by the time they are sent to me.

I get $1,000 each.

My job isn't "cool" but I love it. Currently on a 3 month contract doing data center operations stuff. Building, configuring, deploying ESX hosts, moving rack and blade servers in and out of cabinets, cabling crap, administering our KVM over IP environment, and "other duties as assigned". This is pretty low-end work (i.e. not too cerebral), but the main dude I work with is really cool and so is my boss. Also I have zero end-user interaction. And if you've been in IT for any time at all you'll know how awesome that is.

Some of the jobs posts are very very cool. I hope mine can somewhat stack up

I travel the world with research vessels, and do IT/data/sonars onboard these ships. I just came back last week from an epic trip that involved traveling to Asia, South America, Antarctica, South Africa, UK... I haven't been home since October.. I get shipped out again in 2 months.

I've seen whales, penguins, dolphins, incredible bio-luminescent organisms (created by the ship's prop-wash), sharks, all manner of fish and birds, insane thunderstorms out at sea, etc..

I'm extremely honored and humbled to be a work with world-reknown scientists, and assist in a lot of the research they do. I get to represent our country (USA woots!) with our state-of-the-art ships, and make sure that we are all about working hard, and being professional.

I'm a Cost Accountant for a large manufacturing company that makes handlers for the semiconductor industry. Completely meh as far as telling people about it but it is fun for me because I get to interact with all different levels within the company from engineers to production to purchasing to upper management.

you know you work in a badass job when you can say "small 40 and 50 ton models"

that's one thing i miss about working in refineries, all the huge equipment. one of the coolest things i ever saw was a bunch of smaller cranes building a 500 ton crane.

edit- now that i think about it, the crane might have been bigger than a 500 ton. It was fucking HUGE. had to be built in place and stored on site because the cost to move it was to enormous.

AA-C - similar role to a CRNA, but the training is more akin to PA training.

Ah, i was gonna say if you were anesthesiologist your job would mostly be about popping your headi nto the OR to make sure the CRNA/AAC is doing their jobs then going to the dr's lounge to watch espn.
