I just had my draft, I think I did a crappy job. I took all the old timers I recognized from baseball games i played when I was a kid, and from hearing them on sportscenter. Al Leiter anybody? How old is he now? Is he any good anymore?

quick question: If I was reading the rules on the yahoo page but I had a question about scoring. So only the position players count towards your scoring and not the bench players. Can I assign 3 CF for my team to play in the OF positions or do they have to be RF, CF, LF?

Bench players do not count towards scoring and they do not count towards game played or innings pitched.
Any outfielder can be assigned to the OF position.

well actually prior is hurt and wont be ready till may so he is on my dl at the moment. Try for ordonez, tejada, poujols, boone, anderson, for some good hitters and for pitchers try to pick up some ace starters, and a few good closers. and stay away from pitchers on bad teams cause even if they do well(the pitcher) the points against u for losing the game will nullify the good points. I'd sugest Halladay, wood, brown, martinez, schilling, foulke, smoltz, maddux, etc.

ok 1 more question, do people change their lineup daily depending on whether their players are going to play that day or not? I'm in a head to head league, and was wondering if I should be changing my lineup daily to max the scoring.

if your league allows daily roster changes then of course you should change the lineup everyday. nothing worse than sitting a guy who pitches a gem or hits a couple of homers. but it depends on your league settings. some leagues only allow weekly changes.

i just skimmed the thread but i don't think i saw you post the league settings or your lineup anywhere. at least post your team so we can see.

The only catch is there are more days than games played, so, you could end up playing all your games at one spot, or using up all your IP'd before the end of the season and near the end you'll have a slide as others who didn't follow that strategy catch up/move further ahead.

btw, I don't understand the last comment about maxing out on there being more days than games played.

You probably need a better 2B and SS. Maybe you could trade Griffey for a good 2B, like....Ray Durham and someone. You're closers aren't that good either, probably won't get you many saves because the teams don't win that much (Det, Tex).

There are 162? games so most leagues only count 162 in a position. But the baseball season is longer than 162 days because of days off, so if you keep rotating players, you'll wind up with more than 162 games in a position, so the ones over don't count.

btw, I don't understand the last comment about maxing out on there being more days than games played.

You are short on closers. Also a couple of your starters are borderline waiver material (Burba, Redman, Wakefield). In a H2H league, you can use this to your advantage by "cycling" in starting pitchers daily based on matchups to maximize wins and strikeouts.

Also you are light on SB's (if SB's count in your league). I would drop Walker and replace him with a 2B with speed, there should be a halfway decent one available in a 10 team league with only 1 utility spot.

your league uses way too many categories but your hitters are very good. try trading some hitting for pitching. don't worry about the max games thing. you said you were in a head to head league several posts up but people didn't seem to notice. there are no max games for head to head.

but yeah...in head to head there is no point in having bench hitters unless they are very good. trade for pitchers and drop your useless players like juan encarnacion and tino martinez for more pitchers.
