I enjoy sports of this nature, but I can not get in to MMA. I guess I just don't see much "sport" in it - just big guys trying to pulverize each other. I much prefer sports with more rigidly-defined rules, like olympic/amateur boxing and wrestling.

I hate MMA fans. They are so pushy.

I'm not really into any type of fighting at all, but people I know who are MMA fans always try to bring it up. Then they get all pissed when I say I don't like it (kind of like what happened in this thread). I say "eh, it's not in my taste" and they respond with "OH MAH GOD ITS THE BEST SPORT EVAR SO MUCH SKILL

There's too much rolling around on the floor clutching each other. Kinda ghey.

There's also this.

I remember when some friends wanted to start a MMA club. Ending up just being a bunch of sweaty dudes rolling around on the floor with their asses in each others faces. I didn't partake in any of it, and it wasn't even entertaining enough to watch.

Not at all interested in MMA but I find it fascinating that "nice" girls who are not into wrestling, traditional martial arts, guns, boxing, etc are suddenly into MMA. You see them posting on Facebook about how they are attending the local bar to watch the events. I don't get it.

Saw the last UFC when GSP was fighting some dude from UK. It was so boring, won't watch again!

Not really a fan of watching sports. Playing is fun, but watching is just... meh. I watch some baseball, some golf and the superbowl, none seriously.

I find sports where we waste our incredibly developed brains to beat the living shit out each other especially deplorable.

Fan of all combat sports but honestly the last few cards have left a bitter taste in my mouth save shogun and the zombie fights, and I enjoyed a few boxing bouts a bit more (namely Showtime's last card)

Saying MMA is better / requires more skill / blahblah then boxing is asinine. Two completely different sports. Apples and oranges. I see local amateur boxers work with local mma guys for training and the mma fighters get tooled standing up, I can only imagine what the disparity would be between pro level fighters. And of course, if it went to the ground the boxer would get worked over.

There's really no comparison. And they're both here to stay.

I will concede I think the MMA market is over saturated with fights. 2 PPVs a month is a bit much IMO, but I guess with the talent pool increasing the only other option is to shelve the fights or show them for free.. I'll just exercise my right to not buy it.

If you can watch baseball and golf, you should be able to watch any other sports no problem as a guy.

In most sports where the dudes are beating each other to a pulp, the 'player' usually isn't of the incredibly developed brain category.
