I don't mean when they got rid of the "supersize" fries. But the current large size fries is the same size as the original supersize fries.

Many many years ago meals at McDonalds came with a LARGE fry by default not a medium fry. One day this all change, when McDonald change they size of its fry boxes. Thus the supersize fries during that time became todays large fry. Just some McDonald trivia for you.

P.S if you knew this already then you are really old.

I always "supersize" was equivalent to an extra large.......and I remember medium being the default. But then again I'm only 26 and i might not be remembering correctly.

The film Super Size Me caused McDonalds to drop the Super Size option. While the film made some good points, the whole girls suing McD cause they got fat was bull plop.

What I am refering to is long before that.

The supersize fry that MCDonald got rid of actualy came into exsistance only a few years before the movie.

I'm 44 & I remember when almost all McDonalds were covered in red & white stripes ... there was a Big Mac on the menu but the Quarter Pounder didn't exist nor did anything else you've become used to eating there except maybe the filet-o-fish & the fries all came in little paper things ... I think there was a large/small option but that was it.

They changed the sizes back in 1998. I was working there at the time, it was a big deal, they didn't want it to seem like we were selling over-sized meals or something, so they basically "tweaked" the sizes and changed the names. It had nothing to do with the film that came about 8 years later, and not because anybody sued them, it was all marketing.

I am old, I remember Supersize fries, and I find your tone demeaning.

Like Captante said, waaaaaaay back, before frys came in little box-like containers, the very small paper holders were quite small, the McD's were all in white tile outside with red and a pair of yellow arches--one arch on each side of the building, and all their sandwiches (and there were very few in selection compared to today) were all wrapped in waxed-like paper, sort of like what a McGriddle is today, but the wax and paper consistency was different.

What you're referring to is "new" history compared to that.

McDs got rid of the real Medium size well over 10 years ago, it sucked because they were the perfect size. this was after they had come out with "supersize"

IIRC you could get a plain burger and double burger, cheeseburger double cheeseburger, fish filet, fries, and a shake or coke. It would be nice if they would go back to that original size bag of fries, that really was enough to go along with a burger and coke.

No they didn't...they used to come with small everything- the fries came in little white bags, the drink was a medium. Then all these giant portion things started happening in the 80's where a medium is a small, large is medium, and a giant vat is large. You had to order everything separate until sometime around 1978 where they started making "meals".

I remember when they first introduced supersize. It was a promotion along with Jurassic Park, iirc.

It's called a small, or happy meal, size. I order it whenever I go to McDonalds and don't order the happy meal. I tend to just order the happy meal as it is plenty of food for one person.

Probably, the common size for a bottled coke out of a machine then was 7.5 oz.

Man I can't do that!

I need at least a half a pound of meat, about 80-110 fries, and a liter of cola!

=p

I miss supersize fries, they were the prefect size for a meal.

hmmm...... McD's shake and supersize fries (no burger, no soda). That was my favorite "once-in-a-while-you've-been-good" treat. Large Fries and Shake just doesn't cut it.
