I'd also have to agree. HL1 was far better than HL2, in pretty much every way that counts.

But then again, its not like Half Life has *gone* anywhere. You can still just pop your CD in and play it, so why miss it?

Oh yes...this man speaks truth.

No. The Marathon Trilogy and Deus Ex are far superior to the overrated Half-Life.

Yeah, I played Wolf as well, and while it was cool, it was still lacking something that Doom had.

Anyone remember the feeling as you came to the last level of episode 2? The Tower of Babel.
You heard that big roar and wondered wtf was making those sounds, then you said hello to Mr Cyberdemon, damn that was ****** awesome

Doom 1 is a very good game, but it's a shame that the sequel was so bad.

Quake 1.

Falls apart in the second campaign. Killing larger and larger numbers of the same enemies gets old quickly.

I still actively replay Half-Life. The graphics are dated but they still have a nostalgic charm about them, plus you can run the game with 16xAA.

I also throught Xen was quite interesting in many places.

Small LAN's, playing FFS 4 player games, now that makes everything we have now look so ****** boring.
E1M1 and E1M7 took asskicking to a whole new level.

I miss the gameplay and the mission, but not the graphics. It was more involved then HL2, but maybe the newness of it was a factor.

The game I really miss is Unreal. There is a game that was way ahead of it's time. It still looks good. To bad Unreal 2 was so bad.

Exactly, the graphics are not THAT bad yet, really. Especially if you use the HD models (and it's ridiculous that those are not included standard in the Steam version).

I guess what I should really replay is OpFor and BS. Haven't seen either of those in a long while.

And I sort of want to map again. But obviously it'd be foolish doing that for an 8-year-old engine. Maybe I could port over textures and models from the original and mess around with them in Source?

i loved the ending to doom1. the camera just pans around this wonderful field with butterflies, and then, there's this rabbbit head shoved on a steak in the ground, and then it shows the burning city. it was great!

the reason i pick doom2 over 1 is for no other reason than the SUPER SHOTGUN! man, i remember when i first picked that thing up. i beat the game only using it. now, when i go back to doom1, it feels empty without that gun.

the only thing i have yet to do is beat the entire game on "Nightmare" mode. still can't get passed the last level. its rediculous.

I liked the single player part, but since it was essentially just more of the same, it didn't have the impact and the wow feeling of Doom 1.
That's not to say it wasn't good, it's just saying, in terms of single player, Doom 1 > Doom 2

I loved Half Life 1 and still love the new ones. Episode One was great. I can't wait until Black Mesa comes out. Modders are totally redoing the game with source graphics. Find the website and check out the progress thus far.

Wish they'd give us a release date. Until then any mod is just a pipe dream.

The gameplay just sucked. Too much time was spent running around hallways looking for a keycard or skull and not enough time was spent on action. The original didn't have nearly as many puzzles.

The games never get to old to play. It's us that get to old and to busy. I might be taking things to far but I have a rig I run DOS games on, one for 98 and one for XP. Hell I even have an XboX. If I'm playing a game and my wife comes in and wants to play, there are plenty of machines. Honey lets get some beer, popcycles, ammo and start a party.
