Pigs in a blanket always included pancakes in my world. Was recently in Maui and the local place had an awesome breakfast special; three pancakes, one wrapped around a sausage, one wrapped around bacon, and one wrapped around kalua pork. Best pigs in a blanket I've had.

What is that? Fried wooden dowels? Did you grow in in North Korea?

Them wooden dowel have a hotdog dipped in puffy batter attached to them. Except they are deep frying in the oil so you can't see them :awe:

here this is very common for grilling:

Also sausage rolls are common in Italy but they're not made with puff pastry usually.

I'm familiar with the ones the op posted a pic of. My wife makes them every couple of months for the boys. They like them a lot but we tend too shy away. Not because they taste bad but just not our preference anymore.

I will say it's kinda cool too see all the different pig in a blanket recipes from other countries. I didn't know that bacon wrapped sausages were also considered a pig in a blanket.

"Honey what are we having for dinner?"

"Penises Alfred. We're having penises for dinner."

"What the..."

I prefer potstickers dipped in a nice soy sauce with a little rice wine vinegar (don't forget to bring your papers for the vinegar Nazis at the supermarket if you're Dave) toasted sesame seeds, a drop of sesame oil, chopped green onions aka scallions, garlic, and ginger.

You meant to type stir fried pig testicles with ginger and rice wine right?

I certainly remember those - the home-made version was done as OP's photo shows. I also remember them as a menu item at Perkins pancake restaurants, where they were done simply as cooked breakfast sausages each wrapped in a single pancake. One of my favourites!

Huh? There is no Chinese dumplings in EU? Not even frozen ones?
maybe they have them in chinese shops in the big cities that have lots of chinese immigrants but even in Milan (which has a lot of chinese and asian immigrants and is > 1 million so very big for central europe) there were no asian shops in the neighbourhood I lived in (it's not china town).
Also you don't know what you're eating if you buy from those shops, they seize toxic food from china all the time. They fined the biggest chinese meat distributor because he took the meat off the fridge truck, he had a piece fall on the street and he just took it up and went along, so inspectors got wind of this and went to check and there was no regard for hygiene or the cold chain.

If I found them in a mainstream supermarket, I'd buy them. But I'm sure they'd be overpriced as is all the exotic stuff, even if the primary ingredients themselves are cheap.

Maybe one day I'll try to make those or pierogi myself.

We have locally made frozen dumplings. As in I can either get it from supermarket or go to the actual factory storefront.
They sit right next to the potatoe perogies in the western supermarkets

Fairly simple to make. But at five dollars for a 900g bag of pork and chive dumpling, it is cheaper to buy it.

We can get all sorts of food here in Toronto. Very diverse mix of people here.
