I use them because:

The grips on the weights tear the living shit out of my hands and I don't like having skin flake off all week long.

I destroyed my wrist several years ago & so wrapping my wrist tight with the gloves helps my wrist not fail on me.

I don't understand why people here are so obsessed over grip. And I seriously don't think wearing gloves reduces your grip that much.

It could be because chalk works much better w/o gloves imo.

If you don't use chalk though that point is kind of moot.

So what you're doing is enabling your wrist to lag. You're babying an injury that needs to be strengthened. I don't have a problem with gloves in general, but in your case, I do. You need to do some PT or lower the weight a bit and get that bad boy healed. You don't have gloves in the real world when stuff happens. Why would you enable that weakness in the gym?

Tried your theory for a year. Didn't work too well.

Then you were doing the wrong exercises. Do better physical therapy. Work on increasing range of motion, strengthening, etc. Did you continually do PT or did you just try to do normal movements with it? That can affect a lot of things.

I use gloves because I sweat profusely when I'm doing an intense workout. They help me grip the metal weights and bars much better than chalk. That's just me though, sweaty me .
