Who is getting a little scare about SARS *POLL*

When I first heard about it, I didn't take it likely. Now, up to a 100 death and 2800 people are effected around the world. I know this number are nothing compare to other other causes of death. But this diease can spread through the world exponentially. Just imagine how many undetected case are out there. Just like any other diease, there are alot more people effective than there are reported or diagonise. It already have take foot in couple of countries. I know they can't quarantine the undectected people and they go on their life effecting other with out knowing it.

Think of this simple example. The effected person cough on his or her hand and touches the door nob of a public restroom. You know, how many people will touch that door nob each day.

And there is no cure and no insurance that we will find a cure. It will just take a little extra push (like a super carrier, meaning this person can spread to many person easily) and this diease is off and multiply exponentially! This diease have the potential of Black Death plague which in the Middle Ages has kill one third of the world population.

Anyone getting a little nervous here, or I'm just paranoid.

I'm not and I live in the area where hte outbreak in toronto first occured. One of hte plazas where a few ppl got it is about 3mins walk from my house (at the end of my street).

In the US there have been no reports of any deaths from SARS. That's a good sign. I don't know how it's a good sign but maybe it's something in the air.

I heard on 680 News that Scarborough Centenary had to set up quarantine a few days ago? I used to live 10 minutes away from that hospital.

Now I'm out in Mississauga so I'm not quite as worried, but I take the TTC subway downtown every day so SARS is always kind of nagging at the back of your mind. Of course, I'm in my early twenties and AFAIK the only people to die from SARS have been the already-sick elderly. I'm not worried.

Kind of weird to see a few people wearing masks - I have got to take the digicam with me sometime this week.

Again, no, unless you're 60+ and already sick you're pretty much guaranteed to live. The exception so far has been a 43 year old who died in Toronto, we don't know much in the way of details except that he was probably already sick with something else in hospital.

Look at the numbers doofus, thousands infected, only a hundred or so dead, most from china, not the cleanliest place, AND most were under-cared for in a medical sense, AND most were not exactly young.

People die of Pnuemonia all the time, thousands a year, and even more come down with it.

It's not the end of the world, and it CERTAINLY is not the plague. I think the media is just running out of steam since they dont have as much war news, and they cant drum up as much "tougher resistance than expected" BS so this is the new thing they try to scare us with.

Since hundreds of thousands of people are traveling around the world, quarentine will not full secure you from infection. And it is not just China. There are probably unreported amount of infected people too.

Actually I believe there have been many cases here in the US, but nobody has died from it. And even though they do not yet have a vaccine, it isn't anywhere close to being that lethal anyway. Now Ebola is scary stuff. Something like 80% of the people that get it die, and die quickly. In a way that is a good thing. The people die so fast that they don't have a chance to spread it.....
