Interesting thread. Looks like the vast majority of problems occured with non 9700/9700 Pro cards. I just bought a 9700 Pro (should be here in a couple of days) to replace my aging ti 4600. I wanted to be able to compare the two myself and decide which direction I was going to go with the next generation cards, R350 or NV35. Besides, I got a good deal on it and have a system I'm selling that would move a lot faster with either a Ti4600 or 9700 Pro installed.

I don't think this YES and NO will help you all that much, and it really is a flame war bate.

No problem , 8500

Sis 735

By the way I don't think a TV card is consider a videocard. They could have bad pictures just by what's hardware install in your system, your Cable line, your power supply, etc.. Did Nivida make a Tv card?

A tv tuner is not a video card but that's not the point of this thread. And a yes and no is helping me

I'm glad you're getting help from these user reports, and I won't presume to know exactly what you're going for, but in most instances you'd need to know the operating system being used as well to get meaningful data

No problems here.

One thing to note: a lot of these people claiming problems doesn't tell you a whole lot. Some of those people are probably blaming the video card when it may not be the culprit. Just because problems only occur in games does not mean the video card is the problem right away. Games are far more intensive then office type applications. They can reveal problems that less intensive software cannot. Also, there may be a conflict caused by another component in the system. They also don't say whether they have upgraded to the latest drivers with all of their hardware.

Feel comfortable in buying ATi. Their drivers are really very good at this point in time.

Don't have any driver problem with either ATI and Nvidia stuff. (I am running both)

8500DV with MSI KT3 Ultra
7500 With AMD 760

Before that was running, Rage 128, Radeon 32MB LE, Radeon VIVO all without any problems.
(also never had any problems with TNT, TNT2 Ultra, GF3 Ti200)

Initially I noticed signficant slow donw when I put in the 8500DV. Was getting 2000 in 3DSysmark 2001. After updating the Via 4 in 1 driver, the score went up to 7000+. (with latest VIA driver & Cat 3.1 I get about 8000, the card is clocked lower than regular 8500, I believe it's 230/230) And real game performance improved by quite a bit too.

Currently running Cat 3.1 with no problems.
