i dunno about verizon, but in my 7 years with sprint i've only been under contract for about 2.5 of them. they've kept the same pricing i had while under contract.

yup, cingular was southwestern bell and bell south. southwestern bell has now bought up bell south (along with at&t, ameritech, and pactel), so cingular is under T now.

1) Will my phone have to be sent to Apple every 2 months for a new battery?
2) Battery life.
3) Durability: I have the feeling this touch screen will be problematic.

Cingular: No thanks! How long until T-Mobile gets it or people can buy it OEM?

$500-600 is a bit pricey.

I'd buy it for like £150 with contract probably, but actually I'd be surprised if you couldn't get it free. I get all my phones free with contract.

I really want an Iphone, but i am stuck in a t-mobile contract for another year or so. Why the hell cant apple just release it themselves and not be stuck to an "exclusive" network.

I bet these things will be selling unlocked for 1K or more on ebay

well that was a huge disappointment. the smartphone is just way too expensive.. and no 10.5 preview?!?!? WTF!? and i'm not switching to cingular anytime soon. apple tv was a let down too... i watned to hear at least HD content on itunes. and maybe a built in wirless router. blah.
