so what about those of us who would like a newer video ipod with a bigger screen but dont want all the rest of that crap. i will not use cingular, and i dont want a device that does everything, i want a device that does one thing really well, i just want a ipod. are they gonna update those for the rest of us?

My thoughts exactly. I was looking forward to a WS touchscreen iPod, and don't want or need a smartphone.

it also seems to me like apple is oficially no longer a computer company. changing the name, and having a keynote where they dont even mention the mac....you always here the talk about them becoming the ipod company, and it looks like its finally true.

The only thing I'm worried about is size. It's thinner than a treo but bigger and wider. If it doesn't fit inside my front jeans pocket this thing is useless to me. But it looks like an amazing device AND I'm on cingular. Guess I'll be reupping for two more years.

I have a co-worker who refuses to get one as well. That's probably a good idea for him, too, since he supports about 90 servers and knows damn well that his bosses would harass 'em constantly about server problems if he got one

Cisco owns the trademark (they obtained it when they bought Linksys).

Cisco is allowing Apple to license the name.

sorry if i'm dwindling offtopic but i work construction, almost every single car that drives by the driver has a cell suction cupped to thier ear as they either knock over cones or go the wrong way, sometimes seeing the same people back n forth still yapping on that cell, comical yet sad too
now surely no one here would be guilty of that but i sometimes wonder why those people would want to talk to someone that much
