Yeah, Lucifer was the most beautiful and most powerful of the angels. He became jealous of God's powers and felt himself equal to God. So he rounded up a posse and decided to try to oust G-money. The problem was, God was all powerful and that kind of put a crimp in his plans. So as a result Lucifer got his ass banished to hell. I think the story goes, God gave him power to influence people in earth but in the ended its prophecized lucifer is gonna get his comeupance when Michael goes biblical on his ass with a flaming sword. I think thats how it goes
Can I quote that for bible class next week?Originally posted by: Mo0o

I think it goes like this:
satan (lucifer) was actually the most powerful of god's angels... and somehow he was banished to hell or something like that
Banished because Lucifer rallied other angels against God to overthrow God.
There was a battle between the good and evil angels soon thereafter.

We all know God is good and Satan/Devil is bad. But when something happens, why do we say, " Oh my God!"? This also leads me to the questioning of Satan. How did he/she/it become "Satan" and why?

Does anyone know why Satan wanted to overthrow God? Was it because he wanted to be powerful?
This is a dead simple one.Originally posted by: Psycho16
Instead of creating hell for Lucifer, why didnt God just kill Lucifer?Originally posted by: Psycho16

IIRC, the concept of a Satan was developed as the middle ages went on, and that previously, there were many, and that it wasn't one dude in each story, but a different one. Apparently Satan is something close to 'accuser'.
Lucifer, I believe, is a mistranslation involving a king of Babylon.
