If I had to choose one person, it would be my step-mom. She has the most honest thoughts, and will "give it to me straight" without sugar-coating anything.

I don't really ask for advice so much as I ask for how they've dealt with similar things. I have about 5-10 friends who know me quite well, but I would hate to ask for advice over the phone (we're all at different colleges).

Edit: For life-related stuff though (ie, whether to invest, which career path to take), I'd ask my parents. My dad has a lot of experience, but my mom always wants me to just be happy. So it balances out.

most of the time i listen to my mother (and father when he was alive). i might not have liked what they had to say at times, but i always listened and it always had an impact.

Anyone on L&R. The consensus there is to split the check on first dates and/or use gift certificates. I haven't been laid in 5 years but hey, I'm sticking with the L&R plan, everyone else seems to get laid every night.
