Wen will the new ATlon be out. What is it ? the Barton or something? When will the new MB for it be out? Will the next round of the barton be worth waiting for - you know like sometimes it is best to wait for the GF# upgrade rather than grab the GF3 imediately?

glen: I think you mean when will the next AMD chip be out. That will be thoroughbred (sp?). It is an Athlon shrunk to .13 micron, AFAIK there are no other enhancements (although they are moving some of the packaging back outside the chip). Barton is slated for Q3.

I'm waiting until June/July until I build a computer for college - it should be sweet I'm hoping for a 2.0+ GHz P4 (I want my computer to be quiet and stable), either 384 or 512 megs of RAM (depending on prices), another 100 gigs HDD (taking my 27 and 30 gigers as well), my visiontek geforce3 ti200, my soundblaster audigy, and my burner (12x), and adding a Pioneer slot-load DVD drive (how sweet!), and throwing it in one of those all new swanky screwless cases. Oh yeah, and a set of those Logitech Z560s and an awesome 19" flat trintron. It won't be cutting edge, but it should be good enough

Waiting for the Geforce 4 at a reasonable (around $300) price. Usually, that takes about 2 weeks after launch, so probably around the middle of February to early March. Gonna pair that up with a nice P4 Northwood on a i850 motherboard and oc that baby.

If you are waiting for dual clawhammer then you will probably be using Geforce 5 maybe even 6. Hammer is supposed to come out for servers and workstations at the end of this year/early next year, the clawhammer consumer chip will be a while after that.

Right now I have no need to upgrade. 1.4 P4 with a Geforce2. It runs fine for word, internet, games, web design etc.

I'll probably get a new comp when I get to college.

GeForce3 or GeForce4, or Radeon 8500 or R300 based card (waiting on price drops and/or faster cards, i don't wanna spend alot of money for a few more fps)

Upgraded my MB to DDR 3 weeks ago, upgraded the GF1 DDR to GF3Ti200 2 months ago, next is CPU, waiting for something closer to 2 GHz Athlon before making that move and the prices be +/- $25.00 from $200 before buying the CPU. Some where in between that will find a HDD in 60 GB range to merge the 20G and 25G now. Oh and new burner......
