Installed my winter set of tires onto the Outback. Probably not considered really working on a car, but I thought that they looked cool.

Gaskets so I assume a V6?
Swapping on the winter tires is picture worthy, I call it wrenching.

Installed a STI rear sway bar on my Outback today.

Old vs New

Here is the part installed, it took probably 20 minutes to take off and swap out. So far I like the improvement it made, the rear end doesn't seem to roll as much as it did in corners.

Saw your pic and sighed at the distinct lack of rust. Come up to Ohio for a winter and your car will look like this...

Ok, that's exaggerating....a little.

I was pretty surprised at how little effort was required to get the nuts loose, I'm used to working on late 80's and early 90's cars, where the threads have oxidized.

No thanks on the move though, I'll stick with the 1-2 weeks of ice here and the oppressive summer humidity.

Doing the first work more than and oil change on my c350 and finding out the car is covered in e-torx bolts. Had to go out and buy a new socket set. Anyone run into these before? First car I've had with them.

nice. little cold blooded eh? We had a '52 8N with sherman 3 speed aux transmission out in front of the main box. IT would go like heck, you had to start out in 3rd in high range and speed shift to 4th. Differential made scary noises so we took it easy

Uncle and I did the timing belt service on the wrx. Also replaced the radiator. I can't believe it's gone through 2 radiators in under 10 years. Went full aluminum this time.

Helped a friend try to figure out why his Volvo was running rough... he did plugs and we cleaned the MAF and gave it a shot of Seafoam. It got better, but isn't great. Couldn't find any vacuum leaks or anything else obviously wrong.

Worked on the 07 dodge last Saturday. I was given new stock shocks and control arms to replace the bad ones they found at the alignment shop. Spent about $100 on new bolts and nuts just in case and was glad I did.
I had to torch both the cam bolts out of the axle end of the lower arm. They have a big eccentric washer to adjust caster and are a dealer only item. I had lubed the heck out of them with PB blaster but no luck. It smelled like a day at the racetrack with all the burning rubber
It was the first time I could look at it on the hoist and man, it is crusted up down there. Probably still has 50 pounds of caked and baked dirt on top of the tank, frames, etc. Big rock dings in the tailpipe, and a huge dent in the radiator. It is a wonder it does not leak.
Truck drove very nicely on the way home, no more rocking like a box on two corners and bump steer is gone.
I will get in on the lift next door and de-crust it, and paint the lower part of the body with black bedliner to take care of all the rock dings both past and future.
rotors and brakes looked new. Found a broken parking brake cable and will address that today.

Oil change for the GX470 yesterday, and hopefully replacing the speed sensor for the MR2 today.

:awe:

Where's your build thread?!

hah, not quite there yet. This is more of a preservation till I get around to actually fixing the thing. It's been sitting around for a couple years now, still runs and drives around the neighborhood but that's about it till I can go through it. Hell of a neat little car.

I'm also sick of replacing metal on the VW so it's like a small vacation.

Finished putting the full exhaust on the SS last night. What a pain in the ass that was to get lined up right. It would hit against the drive shaft. Finally got it straightened out at around midnight last night.

I helped a guy out on my Dodge truck group with a lift pump replacement. He has a bum shoulder and could not do it.
It was a real PITA, located on the rear side of the engine behind and under the column and brake master.

cam and knock sensor on an 07ish PT cruiser and exhaust mani gasket on a 92 22R toyo.

The PT was boring but I found a previously repaired block crack in the water jacket under the exh mani of cyl 2 or 3 that's leaking. When he has time before going to baja we've got to tear it down and attempt a repair.
