Did you clearcoat (paint) them aftewards, or do the polishing steps seal the plastic enough so it doesn't fade anytime soon?
I didn't bother clearcoating them. I figured that by the time the plastic starts to haze again, I'll have accumulated enough rock dings to sand it down all over again.

The polishing doesn't seal at all.

I cleaned up my lights the other day. Wetsanding with 400 (had really bad rock dings)/600/1000/1500/2000 followed by Meguiar's 105, then 205, on a random orbital made them look almost new. You will probably be able to skip the 1500.

One tip I highly suggest you follow: sand perpendicular with each new grit so that you can make sure you've got all of the old marks out, but you probably already know this.

I just bought Meguiars kit, but didn't get a chance to try it out. Hopefully it works well enough. I ran short on time because the fucking screws that held on the rotors were all seized and immediately stripped when I tried to back them out. I never dealt with that before so I had to do some research and buy a screw remover, which promptly broke because it couldn't handle enough torque. Finally just drilled the fucking heads off the screws, left the stubs in the hub and mounted the new rotors without screws. According to the intarwebs this is a frequent problem on Hondas and the screws don't do anything important anyway.

You should have hammered the screws and put some rust remover or penetrating grease or whatever on those screws and just let it sit. Also, there are rarely "unnecessary parts" and those screws that hold the rotors are definitely useful. This could have been a lesson on how to remove screws without stripping them but I guess not..

We moved the hardtop MR2 from my friend's place to mine..so maybe something will get done on it eventually. Unfortunately I need money to do much with it. :/

Those rotor screws are important if you are an assembly line worker that doesnt want a rotor falling on your foot. Some car makers use a clip that goes on the wheel stud for this as well.

my grandmother died last week. She had 4 dogs which have been outside on her property for the last 2 months. (we found the pups were outside the same week).

no one wanted a old 3-legged dog.

She's sleeping at my feet as I type this.

awwwwwwwwwwwwww :awe:

I replaced the starter on my boat last night. It was harder than it should have because it was basically up under the engine so I had to really contort myself to access it. Also one of the bolts was originally put on by God himself so it required a ton of torque to remove. The original starter was actually good but the solenoid was dead, but they were a package deal so I did them both. The best part is that the new starter/solenoid was only $65 shipped (boat parts can be a hassle to find and pricing is whacked sometimes), and came next day with ground shipping.

Finally got my built motor installed along with the dual carburetors. It fought me the whole way. Surprisingly enough, it didn't draw any blood.

Look at these old fog lights. What happened to them? Explosive rust?

New lights. $10 from Harbor Freight.

Yes I know they are aimed wrong, I fixed it after I took this picture.

my wrenching two days ago. 12 hours total trip to pickup my recently deceased grandmother's favorite dog, Foxy. She's 11, only 3 legs (right foreleg amputation 2 years ago). Her other 3 dogs got adopted.

I will need to wrench the two major dings in my driver's side fender along the way up there though. In 'Cow Town' apparently they don't like my type of car...fucking bastards.

Installing a CAI and putting a new tune in for the Mustang today. Hope it wake this thing up as much as everyone tells me it will.

Ordered a set of 4.10 gears for it but I am a little nervous about installing these myself. Seems like quite a job.

With a rear end you will be much better off having a pro do it. It usually isn't that much more in 'labor'. Sometimes you can do part of it yourself, like on my car I can pull the differential case and pull the cover. Once I bring them that and the new gears much of the labor is just the technical stuff.

Got my clutch and transmission installed into the Saturn last night.. Took it for a test drive, came back, drained and replaced the fluid. Success!

It was a pretty big job, but some patience, and some buddies, and some beer, and it all came together in the end.

What a fun day. New flex pipe/cat and resonator. Everything came apart without issues, even the downstream O2 sensor which usually welds itself into place after a couple years. The new gear went on without a hitch. The only issue is I have to get a custom bent piece of exhaust pipe welded to the muffler since the old resonator was a hack job and not done properly. Aside from that, smooth sailing.

Yep. Great little cars, cheap, economical, easy to work on, plastic panels, the list goes on and on. As much of a pain in the ass as working on the car can be, it's always fun in the end. The muffler will have to be off for a day or so until I can get to my buddy's shop, the car is so comically loud without it. When I first started it up after getting everything on I burst into laughter. Never a dull moment with that car.

Any issues with the clutch/trans work in yours?

I own 30moons.com (saturn related)...used to be big into them when I had my 96 SC2 Classic edition. I did a lot to that car and it was surprisingly quick once modded a little. If it was rear wheel drive it would have been perfect to build into a sleeper.

Most didn't know it was a 'Saturn'...all black and with a nice leather interior it looked more sporty and upscale than it's price point.

I bought it when I sold my 97 GTI VR6 I bought new to go back to college in 1999.

I built a battery hold down and started on my nitrous install. Window switch checked out ok so I just need to determine placement and get it all put in.

I put together the Harbor Frieght pressure pot last night. Today I sandblast what I can get to on the back frame and the 5th wheel air ride hardware, and fog on some One-Step. I'll post some before/afters.
