Lots of Jeep stuff happening

Replaced Header (Cracked)

Valves look pretty clean though intake is pretty bad hah

New Engine Mounts

Replacing

  • IAC Valve (causing no starts)
  • TPS (original causing some stutter)
  • Coolant Temp Sensor (Defective causing fueling issues)
  • All Brakes (Front and Rear) and Flush(fluids pretty dark)
  • New Exhaust System (finally quiet)
  • Rubber Fuel Hose replacement (cause its from 97) Make sure you get some 30R9 hose not BS 30R7 hose.
  • New Tires Cooper AT3 265/75-16

Still having death-wobble issues, new tires will eliminate my worn crappy tires from the mix, some bushings are original..etc cant find any play alignment is def not correct either.

Changed the oil in the speed6 today. Damn near 6 quarts of oil, and a canister filter. Those things are messy. I might convert it to a spin-on next time.

Completely Overhauled Jeep's Brakes and flushed them,

went with Wagner Ceramic Pads they were cheap

Front brake job took forever had to go out twice for parts, got new boots and I had to buy a helicoil because a previous owner uninstalled the threads. And this was their solution

ALso found out shortly after replacing the drum brakes that my rear brake lines where bone dry! Ended up being a bad seal in the metering valve in my Proportioning valve so just got a valve from the JY and got a seal from it.

Also last week I went to the junkyard for a new NSS(to fix reverse lights and loosing OD) the Jeep had an extremely clean interior so I took seats and whatever else I could.

Changed the valve cover gasket, VANOS motor gasket, 2 vanos solenoids, oil filter housing gasket, eccentric shaft sensor and seal last Saturday.

Took about 6 hours total and I was being exceptionally cautious.

What prompted me to do all this? 2 broken (original) valve cover bolts which lead to a lot of oil leaking. The rest were preventative considering I was already inside the engine.

1 big mistake was trusting my torque wrench on a new valve cover bolt which snapped. I had to drill it out and replace it with one of the original bolts (even though they are 1 time use), that took a 30 minute chunk out of the work.

Converting my Beetle to a fuel injection and electronic ignition.

Made some spacers for the coils. These were from an early 2000's Chevrolet pickup.

Replaced rear drum brake on girlfriends Corolla yesterday, about 1000 miles shy of 150k, they were making a little bit of noise and thought it was time.

Replaced: Drums, shoes, cylinder, and springs.

I don't have pictures of the finished job as it got late, and I was in a hurry.

Replaced the RT upper (easy) and front (difficult) engine mounts on a 2004 Honda Odyssey. It took about 3 hrs . I will eventually replace the 3 other eng /transaxle mounts. The rear mount looks like it will be a real pain.

CR-V got a primary O2 sensor (5 minutes).
Accord got a replacement charge cable (20 minutes). The old one had corroded away at the battery terminal.

Replaced the alternator on friend's 2005 Ford Focus . This task took a ridiculous amount of time due to the location . Unbelievable just for an alternator.

Having a problem with our 2000 maxima. You have to "play" with the shifter to get it to disengage park and go into gear. If you manually press the shift override switch, it works all the time. The solenoid clicks when you press on the brake, and the fuses all look good. It's getting power, there's just something worn out or not adjusted properly in the shift mechanism and short of replacing all the moving parts in there, I'm not sure how to fix it.

Oh, we replaced the coolant overflow tank as the other one was brittle and had holes in it.

Wife drive our car into a ditch over the weekend. She's unharmed, but I'm going to be putting the car back together over the next week or so. Sheared the tie rod bolt, bent the lower control arm, destroyed the driver rim and tire, slightly bent the radiator mount.

Could've been much worse. Looks like it's going to be about $350 to get it back on the road.

Throttle body test fit. Accelerator cable seems to be just fine. I bought a long one out of a mid or early 70's bus ran it through the guide from a motorcycle's choke cable around the left side of the fan shroud. The throttle return spring is super firm though.

I marked manifolds for where I need to mill the holes for the injector bungs. I need my father-in-law's expertise and tools to get that done. Hopefully next weekend.

Upcoming weekend projects:
Fix headliner in M3. Needs a little help in the back by the rear window.
Change out shifter bushings. Bought new bushings and shift selector seal from pelican parts and I need to swap them out. Probably a 3-4 hour job because I need to drop the exhaust and drive shaft.
Re-wire jetski trailer - 1-2 hour job to remove the old wiring, clean up all the connectors, put new wiring in with new grommets, etc.
Lastly, if I have time, I need to bring the boat home from storage and pump the gas tank out and clean the carb up. 5.7 liter Volvo Penta setup that is absolutely a blast to work on and use.

Still helping my freind with his 2005 Ford Focus Duratec 2.0. Another item to fix - PCV hose is crack and needs to be replaced. The PCV hose and PCV are valve buried under the intake manifold meaning that the intake manifold has to come off. I sure wish I could find and easier way that doesn't involve removing the IM .I am making plans to do it in a couple of weeks. Has anyone here dealt with this issue. It flaberagasting how difficult this car is to work on (after working on Hondas and Toyotas only for a long time). Now I can see that why cars like this Focus have low resale value.

Put some dual outlet tips on. It looks so much better than the single outlet tips it came with. It fills the area perfectly.

I don't have any clear up close photos of the stock single outlet tips. I'm sure if you're curious Google can help out.

I got the car mechanic simulator. Now I know better than to disassemble the engine for a broken caliper.

Does that qualify as wrenching?

Currently replacing a cam tower on an '01 Alero 2.4. The quad 4 is a dirty bitch of an engine to work on..

It really didn't help that I dropped all of the fucking lifters on the floor (new tower, old cam and lifters was plan)..

I had an olds calais with the 2.3? liter quad4. Maybe it was 2.4 liter.. at any rate, the engine shook at idle like it was going to fall apart, but ran like a racehorse on the highway. The water pump was a major PITA to replace as it was located on the rear of the transverse mounted engine on the passenger side IIRC, but still, overall, a great engine. I actually bought a car with a blown engine and bought a low mileage used one, put it in, and ran it till I sold the car. It was a fun car to drive for sure.

The Heat is coming back to S.FL so Its time to get AC working in the Jeep!

Replaced the Compressor, Condenser, Accumulator, and Lines. Only thing I kept was the evaporator just becuse its a royal paint to get too.

Also got rid of that godawful aftermarket intake I had, hissed loudly

Also got tints! No more fishbowl, got llumar ATR, slightly pricy but place is really close to work so could drop it off and walk back.

On my short list when ever I find it is to get an OEM header plate cause the previous owner had an accident and replaced it with some crap aftermarket part so the hood dosent line up correctly with it.

Riding home from work tonight my dash suddenly started displaying a "low battery" warning. I made it home and plugged in the battery tender, then about 20 minutes later I unplugged the battery tender, pulled the seat off and checked it with a multimeter and it read 11.95V. I ride this bike regularly and plug in the tender every couple weeks but it has been a while since I've topped up the battery. Still, my commute is almost an hour one way so I'm not sure why the battery would be dying. Guess I'll replace it and then double check to make sure the charging system is working properly.
