Wife has a masters and I think she gets around 50k/year. She typically works 7-4, later if it's a school activity night, puts in 1-2 hours a night making custom lesson plans for level of student in her class and then grades papers on the weekends. Top that off, we somehow buy school supplies for her room all the time.

The wife is also a teacher, similar hours, similar education, similar salary. Anyone who says teachers don't work extra hours either is flat out wrong or they know crappy teachers.
In addition to purchasing most of our own supplies, she funds her continuing education requirements to keep her license. Basically $3k-ish every five years for 5 semester hours of classes.
She works harder than me and I make significantly more. But she does get June, July, half of August, Christmas break, and spring break off.
All in all, its not a bad gig.
