<< Well, being a farmboy who has spent his whole life polluting the water table to feed the world i would say:
Diazinon is for yard/basement dwelling pests. Put that around your foundation but not in your garden.
Malathion is a last resort for infestations in garden plants.
Dursban even I wouldn't put on something I am going to eat.
Stick with anything having "pyrethrins" in the active ingredients. Any unpronouncable chemical beginning with "pyr" is fine. Do not water the plants with it. A little is all it takes.
Going au naturele in a small garden can be done. Lots more attention must be paid to the types of critters you are finding daily though. As far as a large farm going all natural....it is unaffordable unless you have a niche market ready with the tree hugging cheese makers. >>
Thanks for the info, 308. I work with pesticides everyday, but I'm not familiar with their usage in crops...we specialize in urban entomology.
