Who makes the best/better motherboards?

I have heard that asus makes very good motherboards but who else(besides intel)makes the better top quality motherboards? Who should I stay away from?

it's all relative,

one bad mobo doesn't mean all mobo from the company is bad

generally, abit, asus, MSI, soyo are great mobo manufacturers

I'd add Gigabyte to that list, but maybe take out Abit...I have a good Abit now, but they've had spotty quality. IMHO Gigabyte and ASUS are the most reliable.

Here are the Top 5 IMO:

1. ASUS
2. Gigabyte
3. Tyan
4. MSI
5. Abit

The first 4 mainboard makers are the very best out there. Abit too, but they still haven't matched these 4 mainboard makers IMO.

Personally, my best experiences have been with MSI.

Aopen is usually the last one out of the group to release their stuff... thats why they dont get any light. Quality over quantity... Their AX6BC Pro Millenium Edition kicked ass... 440BX all PCI... black PCB... first one ever.

Asus is fine quality, but, I'm not sure Abit deserves the kicking it's getting anymore..........Their last several offerings have been very good quality and some of the best O/C'ers in all classes. Their RMA numbers on these have been very low too! While I agree it seems they had a run where they had extremely bad Q/C, lately it seems they have addressed that issue very well and are putting out some of the best offerings across the board!

Jetway (http://www.jetway.com.tw) --> Customer service sucks, mainboard buggy
DFI (http://www.dfiusa.com) --> BIOS update sucks

Asus, Abit, MSI, Aopen. While some people may have problems with Abit boards (and are vocal about it too), I personally have no problems with Abit boards and every Abit board I've had were very stable/reliable, faster than average, and easy to set up.

I'm running my third Abit board right now, and they have all be 100% stable and great overclockers. I have to recommend ASUS and Gigabyte as well, they are generally very high quality.

Right now Biostar is making a good KT266A mobo... for a good price too, 80 bucks at newegg

I got the Shuttle AK31A v3.1 a couple of months ago and think its great for the money. Cost me about $98 shipped. I upgraded from an Abit KT7A which other than the problems with SB Live and Vortex2 sound cards worked great, I don't think I'd buy another though, they seem kinda overpriced.
