Who Makes Your Geforce2 and How is the 2d Quality? What Res?

My local store has offered to let me exchange my MSI Geforce2 Pro for a another card. I can't run my desktop above 1024x768 or else I get the horrible banding that everyone is talking about. I have a Viewsonice PS790 monitor so I know it's not the monitors fault. So tell me how your card is doing please. Thanks.

noticed a big difference coming from a diamond v770u (tnt2u) everything is kinda fuzzy, at least the smaller letters are, but it is still workable

I've got a ProphetII MX at 1280x1024x32 @ 85Hz. I think the 2D image quality is pretty good, although the only thing I have to compare it to is a Voodoo3. Text is perfectally legible up to 1600x1200. Anything higher and the refresh rate of my monitor drops.

Using an MSI StarForce 815 Pro (GF2 Pro 64MB) And my quality is fine, though I'm not extremely picky about detail.... it's all the 3d that matters, but at 1024x768 it looks excellent, But i'm sure there's better.

I'm running it at 1600x1200 and to my eye, the text is VERY clean and sharp. I like the 2d quality on it and the 3d ain't bad either.

Creative Geforce 2 GTS, I use 1280x960x32bits @ 85Hz and the 2D isn't too bad. Of course it's not as good as the Matrox cards, but I don't think it's as bad as some people say...

Elsa Gladiac Ultra. 2D looks great, very crisp. The 2D on my previous two Creative Geforce cards was rubbish though.

I have the MSI Geforce 2 Pro and I'm running at 1280X960. Well, the 2d isn't that good. It's readible, but your eyes get tired after an hour or so of 2d work. The text seems to look somewhat blurry and not bright. And I don't need a pair of glasses Somethimes I set the resolution lower to avoid hurting my eyes This card is really fast, but in my opinion not suitable for hours of 2d work at high resolutions. I don't even try running 1600X1200 on my 22" Iiyama.
Maybe you should try an Elsa card. When the price comes down of the Elsa Ultra I'll try that one or maybe even a Geforce 3

I have a Creative GF DDR and 2D is pretty sucky on my nice 19' Sony Trinitron. Anything above 1280 is just vomit inducing.

Elsa Gladiac GeForce Ultra 64 mb... stock speed. Running on a ViewSonic PS790 (19&quot at 1280x1024 @ 75 hz. Using 12.41 WHQL drivers (but thinking of going back to 7.58) 3D Mark2000 with 7.58 - 7561, with 12.41 - 7143.
Overall 2d quality is excellent, 3d is fabulous. Tho, I still can't get Links2001 to run with hardware accelleration! But, it looks very good with software accelleration.

32MB Elsa Gladiac GTS here. 2D looks great up to 1280x1024 @ 75hz, but starts to degrade after that as my monitor will only do 1600x1200 @60hz max (looks crappy that high) and only a 17inch Diamondtron.

I have a Hercules 3d Prophet 2 GTS 64Mb. Although it tends to be on the expensive side but I think it has one of the better 2d qualities that I have seen. I run this card at 1024x768@150Hz normally but I have tried through 2048x1536@75Hz and it seems to do quite well. One of my roommates has a Visiontek GF2 GTS 64Mb card and I think it also has pretty good 2d quality (the little difference I can see I am not sure if it is the monitor or the card). Then my other roommate has an Elsa 32Mb card and again the little difference that I see I do not know whether to attribute to the card or the monitor.

I have heard in the past a few complaints about the 2d filter qualities. The MX cards seem to be a little better in this regard for some reason. I know that Nvidia is cracking down on this for the Geforce 3.

scope, i'm saying that people might just tell u that their gf2 2d quality is good because they can only compare it to older generation video cards that used slower/lower quality ramdacs, etc....

what i'm saying is, ask people who use high quality 2d video cards on a regular basis (as well as gf2s) how good the gf2 2d quality is...u might get an entirely different story about the gf2s 2d quality...
