Who manufactures this chassis

Hi all,

There is a company that makes a product called the ProMax Pro-Cache Network Archive Appliance. It is a 3U "1/2 rack width" chassis.

I'm trying to find out the manufacturer of the chassis they use.

Does anybody recognize this chassis?

Welcome to the forums, Steve.

I design electronic hardware, and that looks like a custom made chassis. Given that it's designed to mount in a standard sized 3 RU x half rack size, it may be based on an basic chassis form available from several vendors with custom cutouts, ventilation, finish and internal mounts.

Differences would include the guage of the metal and whether it's steel or aluminum. Even then, there are differences in steel and aluminum specs for other characteristics such as hardness.

Bud Industries is one established vendor of standard and custom chassis. I don't know whether they carry the exact chassis you want, but the site should give you some insight into what you're looking for.

i dont see anything remarkable about that chassis as well, especially since its half width of a standard U server case.

is there something about the case which you like or feel you need?
we can probably help you select a much cheaper case with all the options that wont break your wallet like a custom case will.

When manufacturing production quantities of products, it's often easier and less expensive to start with standard chassis and have it custom finished with cutouts, vents, colors, surface finishes and other characteristics.

Looks like ProMax uses a custom version of this case:

edit: From digging this case up, I found out that ProMax apparently bought a company called Cache-A, who made this box, which looks like it used the exact chassis I posted.
