Who parks in their driveway like this?

Friend of mine said his neighbors continually park with the rear end of their car in the street. They do it with the truck too (he's posted other pics).

Is that even legal?

Depends on the city IIRC. I remember back home we weren't allowed to block the sidewalk

Maybe that's a stick shift, they didn't put the parking brake on and it rolled....?

Car could scrape coming down of the curb maybe? The truck wouldnt have that problem however.

The only reason to park like that I'd guess is to give your kids a little room to play on the driveway. Or else they're mexican and bbq in front of their garage and have a bigass bbq.

They drive shitty cars. Maybe they hope someone will hit them so they can get an insurance payout.

Friend said they don't have kids playing in the yard, and he's got other pics of the truck being parked the same way.

What's the point of parking like that?

It's because they can't see past that big ass truck so they park it where they can see and don't give a shit they are in the path of traffic.

Here you get a ticket, same as if you block a sidewalk.

In some HOA's they are forbidding parking on grass as it looks like shit. You are allowed to be parallel parked on the street, but you cannot directly parallel park across from another vehicle (how they tell who was there first, I don't know....probably both get tickets).

If you don't have room for the cars in your driveway and/or garage, you have too many cars parked.

I've seen people do that thinking it will stop the snow plow from pushing snow into the driveway. The snow plow driver says "F U" and passes close anyway and the cars end up stuck. Pretty funny.

Isin't there a law in lot of cities in the states where you can't park within a certain amount of feet from the road? I recall hearing of people getting fines for misparking in their very own driveways. Of course in this case they're actually partially on the road so that would probably be a ticket here too.

At work we have a very small parking lot, a full size pickup truck cannot park straight without sticking out on the sidewalk. Sometimes there will be an anal bylaw officer that will come and ticket every single car. Now we have less people at the office as one department moved to another building, so the trucks just park in an angle and cars park at the beginning. When I had my older car, which was a boat of a car, I would just back up slowly till I am touching the building lol. That car was a tank, never got a dent from doing that. A modern car would practically explode into tiny little bits of plastic if you tried that.

The latest thing now is they gave us trouble because there's no proper handicap spot. We're going to give them lot of trouble with that one, such as waiting till it's -40 out and asking them to come indicate exactly where they want it, and explain everything, while standing out in the cold. Screw bylaw officers with their idiocies.

We do sometimes, if cars are stacked two deep in the driveway. I'm at the back of a cul-de-sac and there are no snowplows here, so whatever.

I wish that was a law here. Cars frequently have to allow one to go first because there's not enough room on the 2-way suburban streets.

I don't see any logical explanation for parking like that,... I mean, the whole point of a driveway is to keep your car off the street.

Y u do dis??

My parent's live in a nice community, but the streets are narrow by design for traffic calming.

Even two intermediate cars across from each other makes for a hairy passage. A full-sized sedan/truck would have to turn around.

There was some gangbanger types that were screwing with the neighborhood until they all voted to start allowing towing. They moved away. They were renting and lied to the landlord who doesn't live locally.

Here they'd be crashed into. On our one main thru road almost everyone that has parked / has someone park on their swales had vehicles side swiped. Mailboxes are always getting knocked down. We had speed bumps at one point along it as it's a short cut to avoid I95 during rush hour.

Probably means you should own a bike or take the bus.

1) What do I look like, a hippie?
1a) Shut up, no I don't.
1b) So what if I do, go $%&* yourself, you fascist prig!

2) There is no bus service in my rural town
2a) I've parked as many as four of my vehicles on the street, so suck it.

Worse is people who parallel park next to the snow banks. The snow banks are already about the width of a car now they are basically "double parked" next to the snow bank taking up a lane. It's excusable in full width roads where there's still 2 lanes open but lot of people do it in narrow roads leaving it to only 1 lane. Downtown parking is terrible though so there people don't really have a choice.
