So I was posting in another thread and needed to put a picture up and it dawned on me some of you folks might get a kick out of My favorite cruncher

I just finished getting everything going a few days ago.

I'm not really sure.... I tried using it to warm up a grilled cheese sandwich last week, but it only gave half of it back to me. :|

The best part is the 46" of 1080p (well the comcrap only gives me 1080i)
I could swear I saw linemen blowing snot bubbles when I watched the games this past weekend.

It couldn't have been any more painful than watching the Colts (finally) bite the big one. :disgust:

So you and Kinslayer should grab a  and a babe (get me one J) and come on over and we'll toss nerf-bricks at the new TV.

Edit: I live in Indy

 I have one that's smaller and lighter, but not better.

I thought at one point I might have to move to Phoenix for 6 months, so I got a TV card for my laptop. It's nowhere near that quality, though.

Sounds like a good reason not to get HD! :disgust:

Great setup dude!

I have had one setup to my 1080i 51' RPTV for a couple of years now.
Last year we bought SageTV and a HDTV card, so it has been tivoing ever since.

Hope you have a big HD!

Great looking system, Sid! :wine:

Couple of questions

I tried using my Pioneer 50" HDTV Plasma as a computer monitor but I could never get anything beyond 480i which looked crappy. Is the reason for your success your video card (what is it?) or because you have a LCD HDTV? I do believe that LCD HDTVs are the only type that have 1080p. Plasma sets top end is still 1080i. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

It appears you are using your MC system to record, can you record and playback 1080i/720p HD programming? And is that a DVD player/recorder I see 2nd down on the right?

ROFL

I had to use that to find the cat in all those wires!

Smoke:
I think it must be the LCD/New tech. that is letting me have this kind of resolution. The native for this TV/monitor is 1920X1080X60Hz so I get 1:1 with 1080i. I do have a fairly beefy Video card driving it. (7950GT) so that's got to be helping. I am running a direct hook up from the vga output of my card to the d-sub input on the TV, and with "game mode" there is no signal processing and I can game without lag (plus an 8ms response time so it doesn't blur very much at all)

I have the moto dual tuner DVR (top box) to do the initial recording and pause/rw/ff of HD stuff and pipe it out via firewire to my PC for saving or burning (rarely). Most of the time I just use the s-video output of the DVR to the s-video input on a Hauppauge tuner (PVR 250) when I want to keep/burn something.

The box you saw is just a DVD player. (480p) I haven't decided if I like watching movies better off the PC (purevision) or the regular DVD player yet.

Well, I know there's MythTV. It includes:
Full support for Hardware MPEG-2 encoder cards (Hauppauge PVR-250 / PVR-350). Preliminary support for DVB cards and the new pcHDTV tuner card.
I never looked at SageTV. I thought it would cost more money than that.

IT looks like the mythtv is for linux based systems. I want to stay with Winblows

What I wish I had was a PCI card that accepted component input from the Comcrap box and then treated it like my hauppauge does... except with an HDTV input.

(I don't really need a HDTV tuner.... just the encoder... preferably hardware)

I think you'll need more than split shot to sink stuff around here. You need more of an anchor...

Crazee, how much is beyond TV... purchase or subsciption? I'm using the Hauppauge stuff now.... it's fugly, but works ok sounds like I should think about exploring a little. I always hear about beyondTV and SageTV.

edit: I answered the $$ stuff. Thx for the linkage

I'm as much a Windows man as most people, but a friend of mine has convinced me to give MythTV another shot, so we're going to work together to set a box up this weekend to do just that.
