I've tried a cigarette twice in my life and each time never got past the first puff. Tastes awful and doesn't feel all that great IMO. Probably for the best since I got a little asthma still left in me.

Pack a day Marlboro Reds. Started smoking about 18 months ago, couple months after I started my current job.

I'd like to quit, but I need some sort of drug and tobacco is legal. Before, I would smoke chronic or drink heavily whenever I pleased, can't touch the stuff now as I'm on call 24/7 and get randoms.

Tried that salvia shit the other day, man that was 10x worse than smoking stress, and it only lasts about 5 minutes of actual highness. Waste of time. Didn't even finish my baggy it tasted so nasty, gagged a few times.

Smoked for 30 years, up to almost 2 packs a day before I quit.

I still miss 'em. Most of the time it never enters my mind, but if I have a few beers sititing on the patio, I sure do hanker for a cigarette or a nice cigar. Sometimes evening sitting at a stoplight, I'll catch myself reaching down for a smoke, or watching a TV show or movie where they smoke a lot, makes me have a slight craving.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy as crap to have the monkey off my back, and not be a slave to the damn things, but I wish smoking was healthy.

The thread title made me a little nervous to look in this thread. :hmm:

I still smoke. The last few years I attempted to quit a couple times and went 5 weeks each time, but ended up smoking again. Smoked Marlboro reds for years but when they started getting really expensive (almost $70/carton here now) I started making my own. Premade tubes & tobacco comes out to about $24/carton, they don't stink like regular cigs (or so been told by quite a few non-smokers) and they actually don't taste like normal cigs in that they just taste like tobacco - doesn't have that chemical taste to it. I actually prefer them to Marlboro reds, and I'm actually smoking less. I'll give quitting another go when I'm "ready."

Same here. I smoked for many years, finally quit in '98. Something about seeing someone spark up on the screen that gets me.

EDIT: After 16 years of smoking. No cravings anymore, drink as much as I want without worry about falling back in. I don't even think about smoking anymore. Doesn't take "willpower" and smoking definitely doesn't relieve stress. Now I can't stand being around cigarette smoke, makes me gag.

I make my own as well. I use GOOD tobacco and it works out to like 13 a carton. I smoke less. The homemade smokes don't stain my fingers and I'm also told they don't stink like factory cigarettes.

About a month ago I ran out of my smokes and bought a pack of cigarettes. Within a few minutes of lighting the thing I was sick to my stomach and had a headache. I told a friend and was referred to this video. I was told that the new FSC were making a lot of people sick and then was referred to this video.

I smoke and I hate it. But I do like smoking.

I'm sure if I got a less stressful job, I could quit in no time.

BS on the job front. There will always be stress. Sack up and put the pack down. Today is two years for me. Your job, life, experience is no more of less stressful than anyone else's. Take Zyban or Chantix. There is no problem, no issue, no stress that smoking a cigarette isn't going to make 100x worse.

Smoker.
I've quit a few times.
Quit for over a year on two times.
Usually start again when catastrophe strikes to keep me from going berserk.
GF and I might try to quit in the near future, seems like things are running smoothly so it's probably a good time.

I don't smoke cigarettes and never have.

I smoke pot occasionally, but only once in a great while.

Never smoked and hate being around the smell so I typically don't hang out with smokers in many situations. Tried to date one girl that smoked and that last about a month.

I quit cold turkey last January (13mos ago) after smoking for 38yrs . I quit as a show of support for my best bud who was fighting cancer, and have continued in his memory after his passing. RIP Mikie!

I still catch a whiff of tobacco smoke every once in a while and it smells good, but I have vowed never to touch another one and am now finally confident I can keep that promise to myself. The hardest part has been the weight gain (25+ lbs) but I'm beginning to control my snacking and have dedicated myself to losing that extra poundage.
