It seems to have ended with the 6000 series athough some 7000's have a single lifetime and some have a two year.

"
How long does this limited warranty last?
The limited hardware warranty for Graphics Cards lasts for a time period of two years.
Which products are eligible for a limited lifetime hardware warranty?
The following Graphics Cards are eligible for an extension of the standard two-year limited hardware warranty:
1. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Dual Fan (Double Dissipation Edition) Graphics Cards with Ghost Technology; a floating cover design that maximizes airflow by creating exceptional venting throughout the card.
2. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Graphics Cards with 10-digit model numbers ending in “R” (example: “FX-797A-TDFR”)
3. XFX Radeon HD 6000, HD 5000, and HD 4000 Series Graphics Cards
4. XFX GeForce GT 520, GT 430, 200, 9000, 8000, 7000, 6000 Series Graphics Cards purchased after April 17, 2007.
If you register any of the specified products noted above online at http://www.xfxforce.com/ within 30 days of purchase, your limited warranty will be EXTENDED for the duration of your life. Registration within 30 days of the date of purchase is a condition precedent to receiving the lifetime warranty.***
The limited hardware warranty on all XFX-branded products begins on the date of the packing slip, invoice, or receipt. A copy of the dated original invoice/receipt must be submitted to verify warranty repair or replacement. In circumstances where the transaction record is not available or reasonably verifiable (based on date of manufacture), the warranty period shall begin on the date of manufacture of the product.
*** The limited warranty for XFX Limited Edition graphics cards lasts for a period of two years and is non-transferable.
How long is the limited warranty on a replacement product (after RMA)?
The standard warranty period is not extended if we repair or replace a warranted product or any parts. However, if the original product is properly registered under the lifetime warranty program, a replacement card that is issued within the first two years of the warranty period will also receive the benefit of the limited lifetime warranty coverage. A third replacement within the first two years of the original warranty period will disqualify the lifetime warranty coverage for the original owner—and will default to the following coverage for the replacement item:
Within 2 years of warranty start date:
2 years limited warranty
After 2 years from warranty start date:
1 year limited warranty
XFX may change the availability of limited hardware warranties, at its discretion, but any changes will not be retroactive.
May I transfer the limited hardware warranty?
The limited hardware warranty for selected Graphics Cards may only be transferred to one owner after the original owner.*** The following Graphics Cards are eligible:
1. ALL XFX Radeon HD 6000, HD 5000, HD 4000 Series Graphics Cards
2. XFX GeForce GT 520, GT 430, 200, 9000, 8000, 7000, 6000 Series Graphics Cards purchased after April 17, 2007"

In other words it's the same warranty as every other manufacturer (except maybe the transferring) and you get a card from a company that has had questionable build quality since they changed owners.

These two??? have lifetime yet...

"1. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Dual Fan (Double Dissipation Edition) Graphics Cards with Ghost Technology; a floating cover design that maximizes airflow by creating exceptional venting throughout the card.
2. XFX Radeon HD 7000 Series Graphics Cards with 10-digit model numbers ending in “R” (example: “FX-797A-TDFR”)"

Other than that I think VisionTek has lifetime, Gigabyte has 3yrs.... not sure on the rest.

^It looks like pretty much all their cards have lifetime warranties? And they're transferable. What has changed from before? I thought this is the same as before?

Looks the same, probably with the same caveat of registering it within 30 days

Newegg dropped the price of the Asus model to $560 today. If you ordered at the $590 price and your card is still on its way, you can get the difference back. Contact Newegg support.

It was a nightmare of a card, yet you had it for 3 years?

I honestly don't get all the whine about drivers. I had both nV and ATi for years, and never had an issue with either.

no funds, I payed 600 dollars for it,, ASUS x800 xt pe AGP ........ with a Athlon XP 3200+ and 2GB ram.... I like it at that time it could run UT2k4 smoothly ..... also funds ! priorities,,,,, I got it in 2004 ...... that was my first experiernce with ATI ,, All I have ever had powned is Matrox millionum Voodoo, Hercules 2D/3D first ever card to have both lol way back in the day.

I mean I never diss ATI hardware. its their drivers and its not something new it happened with ATI all in wonder too...Their interns programming the stuff! really!

Not true from what I'm seeing.... NewEgg model number FX-797A-TNFC

I was surprised to see Diamond 7970's come with a five year warranty. Not as good as lifetime, but still a pretty long warranty.

Sad to see the double lifetime warranty go away, imo XFX will have to up it's game in regards to card characteristics and cooling. Which they seem to have realized given they are the only(?) one out of the gate with a custom cooling solution.

Just got my 7970! Overclocks like a beast and stays cool... pretty much all been said but I'm glad I finally got one even though I overpaid. I had an order with a online retailer that was in limbo since saturday. I got fed up an decided I wanted a card today and was done waiting so I drove over to microcenter and did the deed. Ended up with a Diamond brand card which is fine because they have a 5 yr warranty which I like.

Yep I think they will loose sales on this.... I have bought the last two cards from XFX because of the warranty but now I don't have a reason to do it....

Just got my Diamond in. Runs very quiet at idle. 40% is noticeable but not annoying at all. 50% is about as loud as I would like since my rig sits three feet away at head level. The difference between 50% and 65% is crazy. I kept looking at Afterburner to make sure I didn't set something wrong. 75% sounds like a banshee. I can only imagine full blast.

Running the OCCT GPU stress test, I'm stable at 1.2V (1.1V with vdroop) at 1100/1500. As soon as EK ships their new 7970 blocks I'll throw it under water and go for broke.

My XFX should be here tomorrow and I'll see how that one overclocks too.

Got my Sapphire 7970 today. Running it at 1125 core. No voltage bump needed. These things are fairly loud though. 77 degrees @ 40% fans speed. Glad I use headphones. Fast as frack so its all worth it. =)

did you guys do incremental bumps or just go straight for full oc in CCC? Also if I just want to run a more tame oc since I run at 1080p and its overkill stock anyway how would you determine the proper ratio between memory clock and core clock other then just maxing both.

I went from stock to 1125 and fired up my bit miner. 100% load and zero problems. I just made an assumption based on what I was seeing in the OC reviews. 1125 should be a calk walk for a lot of buyers.

Also Sapphire Trixx will let you OC to 1300 core!

Does anyone have any experience with MSI's twin frozr coolers or sapphires's equivalent? How does the open nature of their GPU cooler effect your other temperatures? I'm asking because I have a corsair 650D and they aren't known for being an air coolers dream case, and I wonder if I should just buy a stock 7970 and get all the hot air out of my case.

Anyone dealt with a similar situation?

If you have enough airflow it won't matter. Nothing else in a computer has its own vent.

This case has 1 200MM intake fan and that's it. My h100 is exhausting out of the case so it may have a negative impact on my CPU temps if I get a card that doesn't exhaust out of the case.

Had my patience tested again and I prevailed. I had a gigabyte 7970 in my cart on newegg and was getting ready to buy it. When I refreshed the page it was out of stock lol.

Probably just use my amazon gift cards to buy an SSD, and get a 7970 somewhere that has stock and isn't price gouging.

Your corsair 650D should also have a 120mm mounted in the back? It should also have slots for two 120s on top and at least one 120 on the bottom. If you your case has unobstructed air flow for the bottom fan slot(s) you can mount fans to suck air into the bottom and vent from the top. The 4 pack of cooler master fans from newegg is the cheapest option.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103052

With those fans installed if you need too you could rotate the front intake fan into an exhaust fan. Many people started doing this with HD 6990s installed.

Doing that totally negates the cooling system of the case. Hot air rises so why would you intake all your cool air from the top where there are no filters, and blow it all into the dust filter at the front?

I have the 120mm fan in the back and 2 gentle typhoons blowing out the top through my h100.

Just get one of these and end the vicious cycle of upgrading your case every few years. I did, never went back. Swapping components is, needless to say, very easy. I have 3 120mm my fans on low and it sits on my desk ~3 feet away and I can barely hear it.

+1

I have an open bench style case too and it helped simplify things a lot.
