Only have it at home. Still using old version at work, and I am fairly advanced with Word and Excel. I like it now. Gotten use to it, everything is more intuitive and the new features are great.
Hate it. It's idiocy, and is invading other software, too.
Today, all you have are widescreen monitors! A pox on everyone who thought taking up more vertical space was a good idea. A sidebar interface would have been far superior.
I still have to do that as much as I ever did.
is it really more "intuitive" if it takes everyone a long time to "get used" to it?
I would say it is more intuitive if you're looking at it with fresh eyes, and therein lays the problem for most users.
Those who are used to Office 97-2003 are going in with a biased thought process of what they are looking for (I know it was in the Tools > Options menu, where can I find tools option..). This just causes frustration as you have to retrain the brain.
I hated it at first, but now I'm used to it I find it so much quicker to do a majority of tasks I need to do.

Um 2010 still has alt+key shortcuts. You can even set up your own very easily.Still not a fan of it. I miss the menus and quick Alt+key shortcuts to get to things, which can really slow things down. Now you can just about chop off your keyboard hand and use nothing but the mouse.
They liken the computer's Desktop to the surface of a workbench. Relying entirely on the mouse is like tying one hand behind your back and going to work. If you want a new tool, you have to put down the workpiece, pick up the tool, pick how you want to use it, then move back to the workpiece, all while your other hand gets to contribute absolutely nothing to the process.
 keyboard shortcuts.
